I have 93 Subaru legacy with 2.2 broke timing belt. Replaced belt checked compression above 120 all 4, fuel and good spark. But can't get it to run. Have check timing marks multiple times thought it might...

If your timing marks are on ... there is spark and fuel you may just have the firing order off ... When checking the firing order be mindful of the rotation of the engine.

Ignition timing 1988 subaru 1.8l

the timing at the distributor is 20 degrees before top dead center. Also check your fire order 100 times It CAN start and run funny with the fire order off. She fires 1 3 2 4 (left head then right head) and your cylinders are clearly labed with raised numbers on the block at each cylinder.

Hope you get her running smooth soon!

Valve adjustment

The EA82 does not use shims. Ticking almost always caused by a failed oil pump to engine block gasket failure. The gasket slowly fails which then allows the oil pump to pump air along with the oil. Replace the "Mickey Mouse" oil pump gasket.
