blend door problem for cold hot air flow..actuator problem..common..

  • Ben Havlicek Jan 17, 2013

i think the blend door is fine as it is going from hot to cold.

  • Ben Havlicek Jan 17, 2013

what is making it do that though? Ambient air temp sensor?

make sure your thermostat is operating. blend door actuator allows cold-hot operation. if blend door is working, and both heater hoses are good and hot, then possible blend door it's self may be sticking or resticted to opening properly. ambient temp sensor only controls ac operation due to real clod weather. has nothing do with heater operation.actuator is located behind blower motor. can be replaced with out dash removal.7\32 screws (two) hold actuator into place. remove connector, remove actuator. align oval male stem comming out of blend door on to actuator. may have to manualy move beld door oval to align.when blend door actuator was on its way out, it hads a snaping sound comming out of it when vehicle is shut off. even if heater was not used. let me know if i can help with any more possibilites.

I have a 2002 GMC Envoy XL that blows cold air from the rear heat vents. What could the cause be?

the heat accuator could be bad. It is a motorized part that adjusts your temprature by allowing cold or warm air flow when you adjust the temprature at the knob you are turning

I have a 2002 Envoy the drivers side air vent blows hot air and passenger side blows cold air not matter what the temp is set on

It's an ongoing problem with Envoy. I had the same problem on the drivers side not getting cold air. It cost me $600. They said it was a door inside the dash that diverts the cold air and the hot air depending on what you want. Worked good for a year, and now the passenger side gets cold air and not hot. Another $600 going out the door.
The repair shop said that sometimes they can adjust it, but most of the time they have to replace it. Good Luck

Ac unit working fine, but when I turn the knb to heat, cold air

Check to make sure it is full of coolant, if it is then the motor that controls the blend door is bad or stuck.

The HVAC controls could also be the problem.

No rear heat in pontiac montana '99

Warm up vehicle, then access heater pipes that run to rear of vehicle.  they should be HOT. if not you have  a circulation issue.  IF they are hot, then the blend door is not in the correct position.  this door directs air across a hot or cold core to create the correct air temp. check and update me.
