also sometimes if engine gets wet and you crank on a car a long time you can , I say you can get the plugs fuel fowled are you sure there is no spark ? If you replaced the ECU it is powered by the switchthen it goes to the coil then to the plugs make sure all connections are tight also. Usually cars dry out over night . Just a few thoughts

Po302 code is cylinder 2 misfire detected what part must be replaced to correct this issue? I have an 07 VW Golf

Hi. It is normaly the coil, but there can be many reasons for a misfire. Injector, compression, spark plug, wiring issue, engine ecu.

1999 volkswagon jetta v6 cranks but wont start

I'm having a similar issue with my '97 Golf K2 with a 2.0 I checked the resistance to the crank sensor and it was almost 900ohms with the replacement one being 500 ohms. Changed it, didn't work.

Mine was running fine driving 70MPH on the highway and just shut off. Now it cranks, fuel pump runs and it seems to be getting fuel but still no spark. I have a coil/module on order and will try it tomorrow.

UPDATE

Replaced the coil. Coil sparks once when you first turn the key on, that's it. crank sensor has already been replaced yesterday.
Injectors seem to fire (I smell fuel if I crank it a while) but still no spark.
I have 12V to the coil and 12V when cranking.

I see tons of posts with this issue but no resolutions. Come on somebody has to have been here before....

UPDATE #2

I do NOT have an injector pulse or a pulsed signal to the coil. When I crank the car the oil pressure light blinks on and off (just noticed this not sure if it is relevant)

I do get a check engine light when I turn the key on and when cranking, thought this meant ECU was good?

Any other way to test the ECU?

Could the pick up in the distributor be bad? Doesn't the pick up signal the ECU to fire the coil and injectors, I thought the crank sensor was just a TDC reference point?

The engine is cranking but won't start at al I

Seems like a fuel pressure issue or a spark missfire, check the fuel pump and filter, also check the spark plugs and leads to make sure everything is ok. also could be an injector issue.

Replaced cps, distributer(cap, rotor, cam position sensor)checked coil good still no spark, replaced coil wire and plugs is the computer next?ignition control module is in the pcm i think

If the check engine light does NOT come on when cranking at the times when it won't start, then your ECU is in need of repair. The engine will only start after the check engine light comes on and the ecu is what controls that. It's likely going bad, causing the delayed start problem typical of early 90's jeeps. Repair or replacement services for your jeep ECU are available on ebay.

2003 galant does not to start

If the starter does not turn over the engine, the battery is probably flat.

If it does, and the engine does not fire, its either
  • a spark problem. Most common fault is the spark coil system (distributor or coil pack) has failed.
  • a fuel problem. Check that fuel is reaching the engine.
  • a fuel pump relay problem. This is behind the dash, and fail occasionally.
  • an ECU problem. If the ECU is running there may be a Check Engine light on the dashboard. Read the ECU code for a diagnostic start suggestion.
  • the ECU is dead (which happens) it has to be replaced with one from a wrecker.

GOLF MK3 NON START

check for 12v at injector plug if no 12v this is fed from the ecu so backtrack all fuses and ecu feeds
you may need new ecu control unit but be sure to check all 12v feeds and earths etc

Engine

First of all not sure what you mean by back realy!
Is there a engine check light on!
if not check there is ignitiion spark. oldschool way is to take a spark plug out and earth it while its still attached to the ht lead or coil plug and turn engine over and look for spark. No spark check coli pack resitance.and cank angle sensor. Check fuel by listening for fuel pump working when ignitiion key is turned. but better to use fuel pressure tester if avalible.smell and look at spark plugs for unburnt fuel which would indicate no spark but fuel. Put it this way as long as there is fuel, spark and a fully charged battery it should try and start. take one of these away and you got proplems
