Question about Chevrolet Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

I have a 93 chevy cheyenne and it seems to go into gear jus fine but it wont engage, it jus revs up. is that a clutch or transmission problem?

I was just getting on the highway and i was shifting from 4th to 5th gear like normal, but all of a sudden my transmission wasn't engaging. i tried putting it back in 4th but it only reved up the motor. any suggestions what it could be?

SOURCE: 5th. Gear

Sounds like you may have bent a shift fork or your cluster gear has some missing teeth on it now. I would venture to say that is it a bent shift fork. This will require the transmission be removed to gain access to inspect and repair.

SOURCE: My Clutch won't engage into gear. Need advice!

Did you check the clutch reservoir under the hood mounted on the firewall, driver side? Make sure level is up where it should be. If it's real low, you may have to bleed the system to get the air out. If you need to add fluid, use brake fluid.

Cars gear shifter moves but wont engage in any gear it just rev

If the fluid hasn't leaked out and the transmission is full then I am sorry to say your transmission has failed, this can be anything from worn clutch packs to no hydraulic pressure to internal leaks or a failed front pressure pump.

I have a 89 toyota pickup 4 speed. When I'm stopped at a stop light, and let out on the clutch it seems like it has lost pressure. When I'm shifting down the road it shifts fine. I checked the fluid and it...

this sounds like the clutch slave is goin out, this unit is on the outside of the transmission. Possibly losing pressure!! Your transmission does not use transmission fluid, but instead gear oil. Have the following checked:
1. Clutch Slave (possibly worn)-this will cause soft or hard clutch pedal feel, slipping clutch, unintended clutch release, hard gear engagement, no/insufficient clutch movement.

*2. Clutch pedal Mounting Plate (possibly cracked)-this will cause improper gear engagement, hard gear engagement, soft pedal feel, insufficient clutch movement.

*this plate is located above the clutch pedal itself, apply pressure on the pedal with one hand while inspecting the plate for fatigue cracks(use a bright flashlight). This is very common on these models. This problem will eventually get worst and most mechanics never figure this out.
