I have a problem with my 1996 gmc safari I replaced the fuel pump fuel filter injectors the ecu and it stills bogs out when we press the gas it idles fine but has no power and the transmission slips and...

Sounds like a partially plugged catalytic converted -- does it build rpm\'s slowly when you press the accelerator while it\'s in neutral? Is its gas mileage beyond horrible? Disconnect the exhaust anywhere between the exhaust manifold and converter. You\'ll annoy your neighbors off when you start it, but that\'ll tell you instantly if that\'s the problem.

(It\'s happened to me twice. The first time I went through the entire fuel and ignition systems before I lucked onto the answer. The second time I ended up letting a Mitsubishi pickup go for a couple hundred dollars after putting a new engine and trans into it, because I couldn\'t figure it out.)

Good luck! Let us know how it works out.

check for moisture in the distributer, these have a problem, there is a drain in bottom that doesn't drain all moisture out and also these dist. do go bad, wear out check it for slop when you pull it back out, center shaft slop side to side, maybe this could be your problem ?

Why does the fuel tank fill so slowly?

At the fill point of the fuel tank is where you put the pump in. After that point the fuel travels down a tube to the tank itsself. It could be one of 2 things a short tube causing fuel to swoosh like waves hitting the pump shutting it off or the tube itself could be small at the bottom causing fueal to come back up the tube. You don't have mechanical failure or problems. Just pump it about half pulled and you'll get along just fine.

The car starts but it shut down within a few seconds

You'll need to figure out if you are loosing fuel pressure to the injectors or spark to the plugs to proceed.

Civic hard to start, and when started shuts off

Try this first, and lets see what happens. Turn key to on, but not start, then off. do that about four or five times, then try to start. See if it starts, runs, then dies. Let me know. Have you had fuel pressure tested at all? If it doesn't start and run for a short while at least, take air intake hose off at throttle body intake, open throttle and spray a good shot of WD-40 into throttle body, then try to start. If it starts, you have a fuel delivery problem, maybe fuel pump or plugged filter would be first to check. Just because you hear the pump, doesn't necessarily mean it's getting proper pressure to run. Let me know what happens when you try this, and we'll go from there.

Ford excape 2005 want turn over if I spray start fluid in it it will but cuts offI

Sounds like the fuel pump in the tank is not coming on.
There can be other reasons for this besides a bad fuel pump.
Stand by the rear of your car near the tank, and take the fuel filler cap off. Have someone turn the key to on (not cranking). You should hear the pump come on for about 2-3 seconds to pressurize the fuel lines, then shut back off. If you hear it, then pump is working. If you don't hear it, you'll need your fuel pump checked. It or the circuit is not working.

GMC 2000 sierra pick up 1500 sounds like it wants to start but won't turn over. Battery sounds good so I guess battery and alternator are ok. For several years fuel gauge doesn't work and...

It sure could be. But, "won't turn over" you do mean it cranks at normal speed but won't start?
A simple test of the fuel pump is to stand by tank and listen as someone turns key to on. When first turned to on, your pump will activate for 2 or 3 seconds, pressurizing the fuel system, and then shut off if the engine computer doesn't get a cranking signal. Do you hear it come on? If not, then something's not turning your pump on. If you can hear it buzz on briefly, then maybe it's your filter. Another test: Spray a little starting fluid into your intake manifold (remove the big hose going into intake manifold) while someone tries starting it.If it doesn't fire and try to stay running, then it's probably an ignition problem. But if it does fire off, then you know it's a fuel problem-likely your pump or filter. good luck.

99 escort fuel pressure slowly drop to 0 after shutting off. turns over longer before starting. What holds fuel pressure after shutting off?

Hi Rusty, The fuel pressure is regulated by a special device on the end of the fuel rail. (That is the fitting on top of the injectors and carries the fuel under extreme pressure) If the regulator is leaking it will allow fuel to by pass and return directly to the tank. You can check it by squeezing the rubber fuel return pipe with pliers while the engine is running, or before starting. Crank the engine until it starts and then clamp before turning off. Restart the engine and if it starts easily you'll have located the defective part. Regards Johngee10

Truck runs okay when cold, but once it's hot it shuts off while driving down the road. It'll crank back up, but shuts off more frequently.

There may be different reasons for the problem. Start checking from the IAT sensor located in the air intake. the IAT sensor determines the amount of air to be injected in relation to air temperature. A defective sensor will commonly result in temperature-related problems.

Do also a code scanning, check MAF sensor, look for vacuum leaks and check fuel pressure when the problem occurs. A defective fuel pump may fail when hot.
