Question about 2005 Kia Sorento

1 Answer

2004 Kia sorento took it to amaco as i thought there was a slight slip in the transmission. they completly over looked what i asked them to check and right away wanted me to change the time belt.

I said no I could not afford that at the time. So I picked up the car and now for the second time the engine light has come on. This is in the time period of two weeks. The fluids are good , the gas cap is tight . Is there any thing I should be looking for that is causing this. aniasfullcircle@yahoo.com Thanks

You should not post your email address online.
If the car has over 100,000 miles the timing belt should be replaced, but if the check engine light is on the first thing you do is get the computer scanned for trouble codes.
The check engine light is warning the driver the computer has a problem with something that can affect performance and emissions.

SOURCE: 2002 Kia engine light has been on for over a week

the engine light is comming on because there is a fault in the electronics of your engine, transmission or emission system, there are over 200 faults that can turn the light on, u will need to have the system scanned to see what fault code was stored with the check engine light.

Kia had my wifes car for a month for a transmission problem. When we got it back both rear view mirrors had thick black goo leaking from the seam where they connect to the car. My first thought is that...

That sounds plausible, but very suspicious. You are sure that you never saw this goo before I assume. Was it at a dealer?I would go examine where you took it and look for a couple things.
1.Transmission work means it was lifted up.Look near the top of the lift for anything that they may have been able to get caught on and crack/break,some kind of rails. If there are, stick around a little bit and watch them use it once or twice, see if there is a spotter watching out and whatever else you can think of.Just out of curiosity if your interested.Good luck! The Coolant seems to boil out when I have been driving and then park for a while. We can't seem to find a leak. We were told it might be the thermostat what are your thoughts. This is a 2003 Kia Sorento

Could be:
a thermostat....$10 fix (does the heat work)
Could be:
fans not working (check fuses and relays) look and listen for the fan working
Could be:
low coolant

I've got a 2003 Kia Sorento It felt like the trans was slipping - took it to the mechanic and they replaced the rear U-joints and the carrying bearing (said it wasn't the trans); it helped but it still is...

Please first off - take down the vin number - call the dealer - ask about RECALLS.

Once done - take the car to the dealer - tell them you called about recalls and ask them to just show you how to check your auto trans level. Nothing more. If this continues to slip try adding Royal Purple Transmission fluid - IF your fluid has been changed as scheduled and is current. If not - change the fluid and filter - then add [ as the last quart ] Royal Purple to the Transmission after the change. Only to top off - not to overfill so leave one quart shy of full then add the Royal Purple.
Best of it. 178e9d2.gif

2004 KIA Sorento, heater problems

Hi. I just had the same problem after I took my 05 sorento in for service. I called the shop back and they told me the system had to be burped after the coolant level gets low( they neglected to refill my system at the dealership also). To do this you must fill the coolant tank to the proper level, park the vehicle on an incline(with the front of the vehicle being highest), and allow vehicle to heat up with the heat on. it worked for my 05.
