Question about Cars & Trucks
This is a common problem with your era camaro. Its an issue with the master and slave cylinders. There is an updated part that fixes the problem. But for a quick fix you can change the hydraulic fluid. That system is known for overheating the fluid.

SOURCE: Clutch problem
check the fluid level first, if its empty this will happen, if so full it and bleed the clutch, if not it could be the slave cylinder and failing both, it could be the clutch itself, easiest way to check is to see on the gearbox if the clutch is engaging when you press the pedal down.
just ask if you need more help

believe it or not, the floormat on my 2000 Sunfire will sometimes slip forward and hold the clutch pedal down against the floor. It truly feels like a mechanical problem, but simply pull the floormat away and the pedal pops right back up!

If you can put in gear by having someone rock the car front to back and it holds well its pretty Obvious that you DO have A Clutch Master Cylinder or Clutch Slave aat Releice Bearing Problem AGAIN These Parts I REPLACE AS A PAIR. Before ANything Chech Fluid Level that will tell the store IF FULL Most Probably MASTER-- If EMPTY then See where it went Look At SLAVE if wet thats the Culpret. --->> I Hope this INFO helps you and have a good Day >> Please dont forget to RATE me ok ? Even I had this problem. After sometime engaging gear was difficult. There are two reasons. First, it could be leakage of servo fuel/brake fluid from the master cylinder on the clutch side or it could be due to the wear of the pressure plate.
