I need to know which is the best regular gas to purchase in my area, or which brand specifically like Chevron?

Fuel grades to use are engine dependent. If you know for sure that your engine calls for regular gas, then use it. Fuel in any area have additives specific to the region and time of year. There aren't too any refineries producing fuel, so there is no reason to be brand specific. Just shop for the lowest price since regular gasoline is almost identical no matter what brand you choose.

Good Tip on Making Your Vehicle Run Better

This applies for any vehicle. Most of us know that gas prices arent exactly cheap right now and so we accomodate by purchasing cheaper gas, but here's some good info you should keep in mind. Fuel currently is mixed differently than it was back when there was the option for leaded gas. the past years low octane unleaded gas was cheap but well mixed and made, so most vehicles ran well off of it. Nowadays the mixing is different, and gas is more expensive. the low grade gas back then was good on cars and the newer gas not so much. our mid grade gas is the same as low grade from then. if you want to make your car run better, avoid going to arco, safeway, or any real cheap gas station. they water down their gas to make it cheaper, and its lower grade than most others, so instead of penny pinching, give your vehicle a break and instead of settling for low grade, pick the mid grade gas from stations like Shell or Chevron. i guarantee you will notice a performance difference and sometimes a gas mileage difference, especially in older vehicles that were built to run on the low to high grade unleaded of their times. its definitely worth the extra 10 cents.

What engine oil does this car require, and can I substitute

The car doesnt require any type specifically. The grade should be printed on oil cap. If not check owners manual for grade for your temperature at your location.

Ideal gasoline

87 octane is ideal for your accent.

It's a little commuter car. It's designed to save you money.
Anything over 87 is just a waste of money, UNLESS your engine is knocking at 87. Then you should step up to the next highest grade.
89 is a made up octane. It's just a mix of the lowest grade and the highest grade. I used to work at a mobil gas station for a year, and the only grades i knew wer 87 and 93, but 89 was an available option. it's just a way for oil companies to benefit off of ignorance.
91 and 93 is for high performance engines, turbo-induction, superchargers, that sort of stuff.
you should be fine sticking with the 87 though, but move up to "89 octane" or 91/93 if your engine knocks a lot.
hope this helps.

Down by the harmonic balancer or behind the harmonic balancer. the harmonic balancer is the lowest pulley that your belt hooks to. there should be a wire connected to it.

If the motor is turning over but not starting take the distributor cap off and remove the coil wire from the coil. Have a friend turn the key to start and make sure the the rotor is turning while the car is cranking if it is not turning your timing belt is broke. Please let me know if you have any questions.
