Hi fennyb05,
On the face of the stock radio you will notice a small hole in each corner.. These holes provide access to the clips that hold the rdio in.
You can purchase a tool from any local auto parts store for just a few dollars. Here is a link to the tool from Sears.

If it is a Ford stock radio it will have four holes, you may have to remove the bezel to see the other two.

If it is not a stock radio it may only have two but the same tool should work.

I have a 96 Crown Vic Police Interceptor, It's my favorite car.

You will have to take the bezel off, it must be a custom install.
I will post instructions on how to take the dash apart in the morning
If you have a digital camera take a picture and post it here.

There is a Small Plastic Frame around the Stereo. Remove this Frame and there should be Slots on Both sides. These Staereos come with Long key looking Rods that go inside these Slots and then you can Pull the Stereo Right out. If you do not have these, Locate a Stereo shop in your area or Even Best Buy and have a Radio Installer Release the Deck for you or maybe you could even Purchase a Pair of these for a Couple of Bucks from them in case they release it and it accidentally Smaps back into Place. it happens!!!!

Does anyone know if a 6cd radio from a 2007 Tahoe can be installed in a 2009 Ford Crown Victoria? If so please post instructions on how to do it. Thanks in advance

No. This would be difficult at best. The Tahoe uses a class 2 data bus of which the Radio is a part of and that is why they require an expensive aftermarket harness to replace the factory radio. If you are adamant about trying you would need a Tahoe harness that plugs into the radio and a crown video harness that plugs into the car. Both may be available from metra at metraonline.com. you then would need to figure out a way to re create the digital data bus signal that tells the radio to turn on (GM vehicles have not had a traditional radio turn on lead since around 19 99 - depending on specific car models) . It would be cheaper to purchase an aftermarket radio for the crown vic.

Make sure you are using a 12volt DC system in both units. It may sound simply but an AC sub may need an inverter. Also check grounds.

I don't know how to read the mileage on my crown vic, 1989?

all numbers should be included.
The "rolling number" is tenths of a mile.
example...
123,456.7 miles.
Since it is a 94, im assuming it has 100,000 Miles PLUS.
If there are only 5 digits (plus the "rolling number" and it reads 87,654.3 check the first two digits (8+7) to lign up in a straight line.
If the 8 is higher than the 7, the car actually has 187,654.3 miles.

1997 Crown Vic blows radio fuses

The quickest way to find a short circuit is by putting a bulb in place of the fuse. Anytime the time the bulb lights there is a load. And if the load is a shorted wire the brightness of the bulb will give you a hint. So while you're at it, finding a 'short' is a quicky...keep your eyes on the bulb. gotcha!

1997 Crown Vic blows radio fuses

Try checking all the grounds for the radio, over time they can weeken. If that doesn't work, put in a new ground wire with a heavier gauge, that should fix it. It sounds like a ground problem.

Good luck, Daniel
