do a continuity test from the large red wire on your alt to the battery, could be a fusible link or broken wire, sometimes a wire will break within the sheathing so it won't be visible by eye, check all conections for corrosion and either clean or repair

Regulator in alternator obviously faulty, have it bench tested & fixed or replace alternator, and cure your problem.

by process of elimination!
one door at a time so disconnect 3 & keep changing the active one till you find which one isnt working

Dodge 1500 generator light came on. Truck died, checked battery & alternator both are good.

When you say the alternator is good, what do you mean ?
If the alternator is charging the battery, the warning light should not be on.
The voltage regulator for the alternator is inside the engine computer. So the computer could be faulty.

How do I fix my voltage regulator 98 dodge ram 5.2 new battery new pcm?

depending on the code giving by the pcm is how you approach the diagnosis but in general the computer pulse width controls the field circuit in the alternator. #1 check for battery voltage at alt larger wire and then test for power at the two rear small wires remove control wire from back of alt then place jumper wire from alt terminal to ground monetarily is should charge if not alt is bad. if does you have a broken wire to pcm.

Hi Les, I;m glad to help. There is an fusible link that runs off the battery cable pull on it and see if it comes apart, if it does replace it and see if everything is working properly. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Les.

if it wont stop charging then there is a bad regulator/rectafier,and it will need to be replaced.on most vehicles the reg/rec is usually inside of the alternator and in that case the alternator will need replacement, but in your case i am pretty sure that the reg/rec is separate from the alternator. In order to find out if it is separate from the alt call an auto parts store and ask them if they sell just the regulator/rectifier separate from the alternator. If they do then replace just the reg/rec.If it is not sold separately then replace the whole alternator

1999 dodge ram truck 1500 4x4 worked fine park it and next morning tried to start truck but all bell and lights come on but 30 amp ignition run fuse keeps blowing and truck wont start ran fine when...

This 30 amp fuse, If it blows when cranking, it is usually the starter dragging, if it blows by just turning the key on it is usually the fuel pump drawing too many amps.
I hope this helps.

99 dodge ram will not charge battery new battery they say my alternater is good alternater fuse is good

When you say the fuse is good, do you mean the fusible link. 140 Amp? See diagram below. The link is the only thing that can prevent the battery from charging. Check the voltage at the battery with the engine running. It should be at least 14 volts if the alternator and circuit are good.

My gen light just came on in my dodge 1500 what does that mean? 1996 ram 1500. the battery is less one year old. the truck has sat and need a boost to start it and now that it has been running for a bit...

The alternator most likely is failing or it has failed already and it should be removed and tested to be certain that the problem is with the alternator and not in the wiring or the PCM, and check out in the fuse/relay junction box in the engine compartment for any fuse that says "ALT" or "CHRG" and be sure that the fuse is good.

On a 1994 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9lt. generator fuse breaks.

ok let's try to help you on this one install a new fuse but remove the cable that runs from the generator to the battery if the fuse won't blow you have a bad alternator or the wire is making contact with the metal on the alternator if yo have a voltmeter you can check this cable using your meter in ohms and with the battery cable disconnected
