The thermostst is normally situated at the engine end of the top hose in a housing. To check wait until the engine is cold Thermostat will be shut remove the top radiator hose at the radiator and start the engine If water gushes out there is no thermostat. Best to get a friend to start the car as it will pump out quickly

Were is the themostat for volvo s80 situated

It depends on whether you have a 5 or 6 cylinder engine. On the 6 it's located under the timing belt cover. On the 5 it's located just in front of and to the left of the fuel injector rail. If you haven't already, register (it's free) at autozone.com. Once you've done that, look up your vehicle and then search for a thermostat. Click on the thermostat that best fits your needs and look to the right. There will be a repair manual link for step by step instructions on how to remove and install the thermostat.

Good luck!

Water in KIA Carnival (Australia) keeps overheating and building up pressure in overflow bottle, then squirting out. Could this be Thermostat problems? If so where in engine is it situated and how hard is...

G'day Noel,
Yes it could be the themostat. It is located inside a little housing at the top front of the engine. Replacement is straight forward. Remove any cowls or covers obstructing your view of the top radiator hose where it attaches to the engine. Drain the coolant from the system by undoing the bottom radiator hose. You may want to catch this fluid for later use. Remove the top radiator hose. Undo the three bolts holding the thermostat housing and gently tap if free with a screwdriver handle. Clean and inspect the housing for corrosion damage. Fit new themostat and refit the housing using a new gasket. Note: make sure you put the themostat back the same way it came out. Tighten housing bolts, replace radiator top and bottom hoses and fill with coolant. Do not fit radiator cap at this point. Start and run engine until you feel hot water arrive in the top of the radiator and all air has been dispelled. Shut off the engine and top up the radiator coolant. Do this again after it has cooled down and before attempting any long trips check it again. Do not open the radiator cap when the engine is hot. Need to know to replace themostat in 2004

Drain the radiator, follow the top radiator hose to the engine, it is connected to the thermostat housing. Loosen and remove the two bolts, lift the housing and remove thermostat, make sure the new thermostat goes back in the exact same way, tighten bolts, make sure pepcock is closed on radiator, refill radiator, start engine, run heater on full blast, add coolant as needed.

My son's FORD PUMA has a broken speedometer.

Your piece on a similar problem with a speed sensor on the gearbox of a Ford Focus solved te problem. The AA did not have a replacement sensor but advised, you could check your speed using a sat nav.
The dealer who supplied the car, Thrapston Ford, have agreed to supply & fit the part free of charge.

Replace thermostat

Follow your "top"radiator to where connects with the engine. The themostat housing is right there. Two screws usually hold it down. They may be metric, either 10mm. or 12mm. or they are American 1/2 inch. Remove them and make sure that you don't lose the large o-ring that seals the housing.I dont think it has a gasket, most are o-rings nowadays which makes thing much simpler. Remove the old thermostat with a long thin screwdriver. And place the new one (very important) with the "A" shape facing upward. Then replace the housing making sure to screw the screws back in at an even count(go a few on one the a few on the other) till tightened. P.S. there's usually no need to remove the hose from the housing. It will swing up and away.If the thermostat stays in the hose pry it out the same way as previously discribed and put back into the engine block again with the "A" shape facing upward. Hope you do well, Thanks Dana

How do you know if a piston ring has gone on a Ford Puma?

You cannot see a broken piston ring without taking the engine apart. If there is a broken piston ring you may or may not hear or see any evidence of it. If the piston itself is broken you will hear, see and maybe smell it with burning oil.
