98 caravan power windows

I have a problem with the power windows on this van. When I first tried to roll up the passenger window after sitting for 2 years the window moved 1 inch and then stopped. now the windows dont work. when i try to roll up or down the driver side i cqan hear a slight noise coming from inside the door but the window does nothing. again this car sat for 2 years. all fuses are good, only the pass window was open for the whole time it sat, no water damage thats visible from outside but im sure water got in there? is there anyway to figure out if its the switches or motors without buying all new stuff?

Its most likely the switch on the drivers door.. to checj it remove the door panel and connect a test light to both of the wires that are in the motor plug then operate the switch in both directions if the light turns on in both directions then its the motor..

Each window has its own motor and fuse. I would start by pulling the door panel on the passenger side to get to the switch and motor and see what you find.

Try changing the door switch. It should be a relatively easy fix if that is the problem.

2005 Chrysler Town & Country. Passenger side window problem.

HAVEK 1005 sounds right on track.... but also try this, usually works well for non functional power windows, specially Caravans.

NO COST PROCEDURE TO FIX IT:

1. Sit in vehicle, on seat next to problematic window
2. Ignition key is on
3. Door in question is opened (in case you closed it)
4. While door is open, press and hold power window button in desired window travel, keep button pressed !!
5. SLAM hard the door closed with one hand while other hand holds button as per #4.
6. Watch window operate as it should.
7. Repeat 3-6 if necessary, but usually the first try works!

NOW, for the naysayers that says you must replace power window motors etc, at $$$ cost because the above fix does not work, or is not long lasting fix, or less than a "professional fix".... Well then, when the window fails to operate again, apply same fix again at that time.

I have fixed my van this way numerous times (usually once a year), and to all local friends I recommend this fix too, likewise do the same and are happy with the solution.

I just got this 99 dodge Caravan at the Orland Auction (experts what do u really think about this Van)the power windows in the passenger & driver sides dont work what is the part i need to check out or...

Decent van, very serviceable. Beware if it is a 3 speed 31th transmission. You can tell by the absence of an O around the D on the dash. I had to change 5 out just to find a good one.

Check the fuses and relays, replace as necessary. Check the window regulator itself for resistance, should be a few ohms. Directly apply power to the motor to see if it attempts to move. If all this fails, replace window motor.
