Question about 1998 Mitsubishi Mirage

Mitsibishi Mirage 1998 - Hand Brake light on at all times.

The hand brake switch located at the base of the hand brake works fine. That is, it switches on/off. There appears to be a short to ground somewher in the wiring? Any suggestions.

Try removing the switch and seeing if there is something stuck inside that is causing it to stay open. If not, you may want to replace it. I don't think it would be a bad ground since you would get no light to come on.

Break lights dont work but blinkers and other lights do all bulbs are fine but when u push the breaks they dont work

Check under the dash for the switch hooked to the brake pedal assembly, this switch activates your brake lights, push the brake pedal with your hand does the plunger on the switch move? if not see if you can pull it down if you pull it down see if your brake lights are on if yes replace switch. if no, check it for power with a twelve volt test light, if you have power replace the switch. if no power check the fuse for brakes lights see your owners manual for location. Good luck.

Misplace/Broken switch located next to the back of hand brake. Hand brake is on. Low brake fluid. Check brake pads by removing tire. Change brake fluid if it's time.

1982 911 sc brake light on, replaced pressure switch but light still on. mechanic says its not the e-brake switch. then what???

Hello there
The brake light onyou are referring to is the light under you went on dash?
This lite should come on with your hand brake on and off .If it does not go off with the hand brake down it is your hand(emergency)brake switch. It needs to be adjusted .Before you try to adjust the switch i recomend to remove your VDO clock gauge and reach with you left hand inside.
Try to locate the back connector on the light switch and gently pull it off and that reconect, this should fix your problem with the light.
If it comes back try to adjust the hand brake switch which is under the rubber cover at the handle
any more Q you can contact me

Brake lights stay on. Ihave to push my brake pedal several times to get the lights to turnoff. Now that doesn't work.

There is a brake pedal switch located above the brake pedal under the dash that is a plunger type switch. Your plunger is probably stuck. You can try giving it a shot of WD 40 to try and loosen it up. Some times that works.... Other times the switch has to be changed.

They are easy to change and available at most any auto parts supply store. It is best if you have your old part "in hand" when you go to the store. The adjustment for the new switch is a matter of adjusting the front and rear stem nuts on the switch so that the brake light come on as the pedal is depressed about 3/8 inch but the brakes are barely applied.

Brakes applied, brake light turns on but other running lights off

The brake switch under your brake pedal may be defective. It turns on the brake lights when brakes are applied, if it is defective within the switch, it may short your other lights when brakes are applied. The switch can be replaced by you and it not expensive.

No headlights when turned on

Just a thought. I have a 98 626 5 speed. When the hand brake is applied the head lights go out but the marker lights stay on. Might be a switch issue with the hand brake...worth a look. The sensor should be located at the pivot point for the brake handle.
