Engine dies unexpectedly sometimes while driving

I have a 2001 Pontiac Aztec that has a problem of sometimes the engine dies while driving down the road. Sometimes when going slow or sometimes at highway speeds. Totally sporatic. If i stop vehicle, it will restart after abit of cranking engine. Sometimes happens a few days in a row, or sometimes can go for weeks without any problems. I have heard possibly maybe bad camshaft or crankshaft sensor?

Hi,i read your problem, for my opinion, maybe camshaft or crankshaft are the possible causes,to make sure, you have to bring the unit to authorized workshop to avoid guessing which part are defective

How do the power steering hoses go on on a 2001 Pontiac Aztek and why is there no circular motion inside the pump

The only squared thing on the pump is the "plastic"
fluid tank... Everything else about the design & function
is "circular".

There is ABSOLUTELY circular "MOTION" inside the PUMP...
PLEASE NOTE... there is a giant pulley on the front..
and the design of the pump is all about rotational force of the hydraulic pump (right THROUGH the middle).

High pressure to the high pressure...
(with a possible cooler option in the middle)
Low pressure back to the reservoir

My Pontiac Aztec is sometimes not shifting up smoothly. When this happens I've noticed the speedometer is not working. It stays at zero, then bounces from 0 to 30 or more. Tonight it died while driving...

Sounds like the speed sensor in the transmission is faulty. Does the engine light come on? If it is , it would indicate the speed sensor code. Check the connection for looseness. Good Luck.
