Replacing h7 bulb how to remove clip

I tried to replace the H7 bulb in my 2001 sonata, the spring clip is giving me trouble getting it off, is it only hooked on one side to remove it or hooked on both sides of the spring that goes over the bulb into a hook shaped clip or are there 2 clips

Car manuals

Hi there:
You are right, the nearside dipped headlight has VERY little room and the instructions in the manual are misleading (image HERE)

The image is of the offside headlight where there's enough room to get a camera behind: having studied the image, it's easy to see what to do. The nearside headlight is the same.

1. Push one of the two clips inwards towards the bulb.
2. Once it is pushed far enough in to clear the lip on the mounting, push it sideways, away from the bulb.

Repeat for the other clip. The whole spring clip unit is now released and the bulb can be removed.

In the image, I've drawn a diagram of the bracket (red) with a cross section through the spring in blue - it shows how you push the spring down then outwards.

When refitting, it might be an idea to wear a glove because there is so little room that you will almost certainly touch the glass of the bulb inadvertantly. The locating lug on the bulb goes at the top: the 12-o-clock position.

To refit the clips, push each one inwards and then sideways over the lip.

Remember to reconnect the two-pin socket onto the bulb - I forgot and wondered why the headlight didn't work!

One other thing: a Halfords "477" bulb is an H7 bulb by another name. I knew I had some 477 bulbs from my old Pug 306, but it wasn't until I removed the old bulb that I realised that it was the same - saved me having to make a special journey to buy an H7 bulb.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

How to replace headlight bulb inn 2003 tiberon

Low beams are easiest to reach. Open the hood, find the locking cap behind the light housing and turn it a half turn to remove. Unplug the bulb. Disengage the spring lock holding the bulb in place and remove the bulb (be sure you don't touch the glass).

The bulb base has three small flanges that seat right into corresponding slots in the bulb housing. Seat the new bulb using these flanges, lock the bulb into place with the spring lock and replace the locking cap.

The high beams are harder to get to. You might need to pull the battery on the driver's side. The windshield washer tank on the passenger side might also give you some problems. Once you have room to maneuver, the procedure for changing the bulbs is exactly the same as for the low beams (they even use the same bulbs: H7).

How do I replace the headlight on my VW City Golf 2008

you should have an h7 bulb, once to take the rubber grommet behind the headlight, you will see the h7 socket, which has to wires in it, gently pull thi socket off, then there is a small wire holding the bulb in place, gently unhook the wire from the one side. and turn it to the other side and the bulb shoudl come out... replace the bulb putting it in the same way the other bulb came out.. notice the h7 bulb has a small notch on one side. it has to go in the same way or the wire will not hook back on. once it has been placed, turn the wire over the base of the bulb and hook it again, then put the socket back on the bulb and put the grommet back on the headlight.

Headlight replacement on a 2006 Hyundai Sonata

I'll assume you want to change the bulbs, not the headlamps themselves. I've listed the steps below to change the bulbs. Both sides use the same procedure
STEPS TO REPLACE HEADLIGHT BULB
1. Remove the dust cover from behind the bulb that needs replacement.
2. Unplug the bulb.
3. Taking note of the bulb orientation, unhook the bulb retaining clip from the tang that holds it in place.
4. Remove the bulb.
5. Install the new bulb in the same orientation and clip in place.
6. Reconnect the electrical connector to the bulb.
7. Reinstall the dust cover.

Alternatively, if the bulb is burned out and you have less than 60,000 miles, you should take the car to the dealer and let them do it for free for you.

Went to replace headlight bulb on 2001 chevy tracker. When I unscrewed screw holding clip; it sprung off before I could see how it went back on.

usually u dont need to remove that screw. there should be on the other end of that spring clip a part that should slide under a tab on the headlamp assembly its self.

Low beambulb replacement

On the back side of the headlamp assembly, there is a cap (screws on and off). remove this cap and there is a connector (2 pin) connected to the bulb - remove it. Then there's a spring retainer holding the bulb in place -- remove it from its latch and you can remove the bulb. Install new bulb and reinstall the retainer and connector and cap.

How do you change a headlight on a 2006 kia sedona?

Left front low or high beam headlight: remove battery, remove weather cap, pop-off 2-prong connector, depress spring holding bulb in position, use inspection mirror if necessary, one end of spring is caught beneath a lip, Move spring past lip and lift up, it will rotate upward and is fastened on opposite side. Remove old bulb, install new 55 watt halogen bulb (H7-55) available at Walmart. Install new bulb with tang in slot at bottom, fold over spring and depress to hook end under latch point, install 2-prong electrical connector, install weather cap, turn about 1/8 turn to lock into position. Reinstall battery, clean terminals and cable ends, place new no-corrode rings (available from Walmart) around battery posts, install cable ends, and tighten.

Right front headlights: not necessary to remove battery, otherwise same essential procedure.

Note: Lower and upper beams all use same H7-55 bulb.

Replace the headlight bulb

Remove the plastic access panel by pressing down on the tab at the top of the penel and pulling the top of the panel towards the engine and off. Needle nose pliers may help with the next steps to remove the spring clips. There are 2 bulbs, the top large bulb is the low beam. To remove it, first remove the socket attached to it, then press the top of the metal spring clip towards the front of the car and towards the passenger side (look closely at the clip to see the latch holding it. The clip then swings back towards the engine. Remove the old bulb, install the new bulb, replace the spring clip, re-connect the socket. (Don't touch the bulb, if you do clean it off with a lint free cloth and alcohol). To replace the lower bulb (parking light), remove the socket, then release the lower end of the spring clip, look closely and you'll see the latch holding it. You have to press it towards the front of the car and swing it towards the passenger side. It will swing up and release the bulb. Replace with new bulb, replace spring clip, connect socket. Don't forget to replace the plastic cover panel by inserting the bottom tabs into the sockets and snapping it closed at the top by pressing it towards the front of the car.
