You could have lost the oil going down the road and not even know it...it could be from a loose oil filter to a loose oil pan plug.

vibration from driving the car could have loosened the oil filter if it wasnt put on tightly as it should have been or the oil pan bolt could have vibrated loose.its hard to tell you for sure but i would have both checked to make sure they are as they should be,,,cost of repair probably alot more than you are going to want to pay .id guess about 1200 to 1500 if not more

Is the check engine light on ?
Fuel pressure ok ?
If it has a steady miss on one or more cylinders you'll need to figure out which cylinders and what is missing = spark-fuel-compresson.

Major auto parts stores have code readers and will read out your codes for free. The engine light indicates that at least one code is waiting to be read.

Ok so lets try a couple things that wont break the bank first. Get an oil change or DIY. Next change your fuel filter, about $13 at autozone. Check your coolant level and add more if neccessary. Also add some lucas oil and some lucas fuel system cleaner. If these things dont fix the problem have a fuel system pressure test done to check your fuel flow. Good luck!

Oil light on @ idle

its a high mileage engine.
all you need to do is use a thicker oil and the light will go out at idle speeds.

use a 50w sae valvoline racing oil.
plus stp oil treatment.

do that and that light is all gone.

You definitely need to put a mechanical gauge on there and check for ACTUAL oil pressure. It is possible that the passageway to the sending unit may be plugged with gunk. If oil pressure is not correct or if in doubt, do not drive it 'till you know for sure what's going on in there. No noises tells me that it is likely not serious but an engine is just too expensive to gamble!!!

Milky solution on bottom of oil cap and dip stick

I'm afraid you may have water in your oil, has the car recently overheated or have you driven through high water? Many times this is a sign of a blown head gasket. You should have it looked at and change the oil. Let me know how it goes and good luck. lone99star
