There will not be any power at the ac clutch if the system is low or out of freon. A simple way to test the clutch to see if it is working is to disconnect the wire near the compressor clutch and apply +12 volts to the clutch end of the wire(for just a few seconds) and the clutch will make a click sound turning on. Do not leave it connected for longer than needed to here it click (which means the clutch is turned on). Your public library should have either "Alldata" or "Mitchell on Demand" which are auto repair programs which will give information for any car that it lists. At the library the use of the programs are free and you can print any information for the cost of the copies. The dealership can also provide this information is they are willing to get it.

You pulled the relay out and checked for power on all the terminals? If so, and you had no hot terminal, possibly a fuse link that sends power to the relay may have failed. When the A/C is turned to on, and key on, two terminals should have power-the main power and the signal to the relay's coil side that turns the relay on, so power can be sent to the clutch.

Some possible causes are the system is low on freon, a faulty compressor clutch, faulty low pressure switch, relay, fuse, or control switch.
Do you have power at the fuse and the relay ?

I have a 2006 ford explorer, with dual and elect contols, the a/c went out meaning no clutch, checked freon level its ok, checked clutch gap, checked and put all new relays and checked the diode and all...

You may check your fuses and relays you have a AC clutch relay in the battery box that has two fuses feeding it they are also in the fuse box under hood fuses 48 and 24 bothy 10amp fuses. fuse 24 is hot all the time and fuse 48 is only hot when car is running

as one of the steps to repair you might want to check the a/c cluth relay located in the Power Distribution Center. That is a box located behind the battery. Look for the right label on the inside of the PDC box cover. Check that that the relay is ok. If it is ok check voltage in the terminals that receive the relay (the terminals that power the relay coil) while the ignition key is in the on position and the a/c switch is on and the blower motor is on. If there is voltage there, then check for voltage in the terminal receiving the relay that powers the a/c clutch. If there is voltage there, Check for voltage in the cluch conector, if there is voltage there, then the clutch itself might be bad. If there is no voltage in the PDC terminals that energize the relay coil and/or the clutch, then the wiring should be checked, including the fuses.

you will have to see with test light if you have power going to the ac compressor you either have bad compressor or low pressure switch

When I turn the airconditioner on or the defrosters, the heater/airconditioning fuse blows? Any thoughts on where to start looking?

Problem is in the a/c circuit. Any time the defrost is on the a/c compressor will cycle on & off as it is used to dehumidify the air directed to the windshield. That's why the fuse can blow even in defrost mode.

Unplug the power connector at the a/c compressor and see if the fuse still blows. If not, then with a dmm or vom test a/c clutch winding for short. If ok, then test clutch diode for short. The diode is usually mounted at the clutch winding, but I've seen Chevy's with a diode that plugs into fuse/relay block under the hood. I have replaced these so don't overlook it.

If fuse blows with compressor unplugged then first check circuit between compressor and a/c relay (power side) for a short. It's possible for the wire to rub a bare spot in the insulation along it's travel along the block, bracket or manifold to the compressor. If ok, then test from relay (winding side) back to switch.
