I've frozen my gas line cause the fuel level was low before, probably what happened. My friend used a can of ether (i believe) sprayed into the air filter section to get something flamable into the pistons to get it to turn over and start up. It didn't work really well but we got it going. Sorry but he was the expert and I was 16 at the time, but I know that you would open the section containing the air filter and spray a shot of it down the engine side of the pipe. I think the product had instructions on the can, Quickstart or something like that.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, may I suggest draining and purging the fueling system from the tank onwards. The idea is possible water contamination due to condensation. Additionally, pls check if the heaters are getting +12 when engaged. Thereafter, re-fuel, manually prime the system and try again.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYA.

And will couse no start when hot. You need to do INJECTOR LEAK QUANTITY. I had the same problem with 2003 model. I fix them on daily bases.

Perform this test with the engine at operating temperature. This test will assist in determining a defective or internally leaking injector(s) is present by measuring the amount of fuel return.

Turn the ignition off.
Remove the engine cover
Disconnect the fuel return hoses at the top of the injectors.
Pinch off the oil return line.
Disconnect the fuel rail solenoid.
Install the test vials onto the injectors and secure with the return hose clips(Special Tool # 9545).
Start the engine for ten seconds while monitoring each inner test vial.
After ten seconds, a maximum of two graduation lines may be reached. If the level has exceeded the two graduation line, replace that effected cylinder's injector, clear the memory using the scan tool and retest. If the level did not pass the two graduation line limit, continue with the diagnostic manual.
Hope this will help you......

Want start after sitting up for 4 months

Check wiring if all connected. Is battery good or does it need to be charged or jumped, 4 months sitting is a long time. Turn on headlights, hit starter, if lights go dim battery is low or bad.

2004 dodge sprinter 3500 stumbles on acceleration . I think the fuel is bad because it has been sitting for 6-12 months . Should I drain the tank and replace the fuel filter?

good idea. not absolutely necessary to replace the filter unless you think that it's time anyway. if it gives off a strange smell at the tailpipe you can bet that you're right on with your diagnosis

Filled truck up with fuel and fuel guage stoped working

There is a TSB for this issue ( TSB 08-2-9 ).

The problem is high sulfur content fuel will cause a problem with the fuel level sending unit, and cause it to read incorrectly.

The 2 times I had this happen, I was not at my normal brand fuel ( had it happen with Shell fuel both times ).

I fueled at 1/2 tank with my normal brand, and then after another 1/2 tank fueled again, and the problem went away.

If you want, the TSB lists new revision fuel level senders, that you can drop the fuel tank, and replace your exiting one with to cure the problem.

The correct P/N depends on your truck cab & bed config, and options

I have a 1993 tioga motorhome with a ford 460 engine. Last summer in the heat I drove for about 1.5 hours before it just died. I sat for about 20 minutes it started up and ran fine for another hour and a...

I'd be tempted to have fuel pressure checked, if at all possible, when it quits. If nothing else, carry a can of quickstart with you, and when it quits, remove air intake at throttle body inlet, and open throttle plate and give a good squirt of quick start, then try to start it. If it starts for a second or 2, then you know you have spark, but no fuel. I've seen fuel pumps work good while cool, and cut -out when it gets hot. Then sit and let pump cool off for 20 minutes or so, then pump up to pressure again and away we go, until it gets hot again. You might also find if you park in the shade, you'll get further, or even on a full tank. Another good idea would be to change fuel filter in case fuel pump is working too hard pushing fuel through a plugged filter, and causing low fuel pressure.

Does my ford motorhome have a gas shutoff switch 1991 ford sprinter v-8 7.5 liter

Most pickup based motorhomes have 2 fuel tanks, you may have a tank selector valve that is electric or vacuum operated. Check underneath and follow the fuel lines from the tank to the front of the engine, somewhere in between you may find that the fuel hose goes to a valve that is used to switch between the 2 tanks ie: main fuel tank and auxillary fuel tank.

Ford F450 motorhome will not start

It may be the evap system. Could be as simple as the gas cap. try taking the gas cap off and starting it. If it starts then its the gas cap causing a vacuum. if not, then it could be:

1. Fuel filter.

2. Fuel pump. undo the fuel pipe into the engine and check to see if fuel is being pumped. disconnect the coil lead so engine doesn't start. Be very careful and make sure you put a container to capture the fuel.

3. If fuel is being pumped, then it could be the purge valve and/or vapor cannister. If these are faulty, it could cause a vacuum and vapor lock.

frankly, the fuel system isn't something you want to mess with if you are not a qualified mechanic.

try these easy forms of diagnosis to see if the gas cap is causing a vacuum, or if your brave enough, try the to see if the fuel is being pumped into the engine.

Good luck
