The lock button on the gearshift will not unlock on my 2002 Chevy TrailBlazer. I read online that I should press an orange lever under the center console but when I looked in there I found the lever on...

Since the lever is obviously no help, try this:

BRAKE LIGHTS AND SHIFT LOCK
Look under the dash, on the brake pedal arm. There are one or two switches that activate brake lights and/or shift unlock. Check for loose mounting nut or a missing rubber nubber. Is the brake pedal coming all the way back up? Look on the floor for something not usually found there. These switches are adjustable and it may be as simple as adjusting them. Have a helper look for brake lights on and shift lever unlocked while you push and release the switches with your finger. Depress the brake pedal to get it out of the way. Remember to set the park brake first. Could just be a bad switch or loose connector. Check fuses and the bulbs. Is shifter fully in Park?

2002 Chevrolet trailblazer LTZ won't crank, indicates it is in reverse but it is in park

shift linkage is loose or interlock/trans range switch needs adjusting. The interlock is probably integrated at the shifter cable attach point on the side of the transmission. Sorry, but I don't have info to adjust the switch. Hopefully is only goes in one way and has just come loose.

How can I adjust emergency brakes

this should be a drum brake system on the rear. to adjust the parking brake, adjust the rear shoes through the baking plate to adjust your rear brakes. this will give you a more responsive pedal and a tighter parking brake. if you need a diagram, email me at iambanshee74@yahoo.com
