Before removing belt when you rotate crankshaft the MARK will all line up as shown in the picture. Then you loosen tensioner and remove belt there is no need to rotate the pulley to remove and install belt. However if you removed belt without first lining up marks then you need to Line up Crankshaft first by turning cylinder #1 on TDC=top dead center the piston has to be all the way up on COMPRESSION STROKE then line up cam marks. Good luck its pretty simple.

ok now you add a new post
and add 3.1L V6 , clear that.
but spark or cam?
all cars have cam timing and spark timing.
some newer cars the cam sensor is fixed, but not yours. i bet.

why not , pray tell, say what you removed. or fiddled with.

check if u have spark at any1 of the sparkplugs if not likly coil is bad if u do check fuel lines or just might be gas cao gas filter fuel pump or i have even seen broken valus rocker arms timing belt another word ned to separtate where problem lies

I need to know how to route the serpentine belt to BYPASS the a/c compressor and which belt to use. Thanks


Go to your local auto parts store and purchase a serpentine belt for a 1997 Ford F150 with the same engine as yours and ask for one without A/C. That belt will work and fit perfectly. You cannot use your existing belt and bypass the A/C compressor as the belt will be too long.
