SOURCE: my 2007 Dodge ram 1500 with hemi has 2 codes po524 and po406 are they related

In both cases, there is a software update available for this condition. It involves having the dealer connector their StarScan tool to your truck and reprogramming the PCM.

DTC P0406 - EGR Sensor "A" circuit "High"
There is updated software available for your PCM that will correct this code if your vehicle was built prior to mid February 07. If it was built after that, then the EGR valve will need replacing (this is not unusual). Keep in mind that could be time for a new valve, but you dont will need to change the tube, but new gaskets are a good idea.

DTC P0524 - Oil Pressure Too Low Oil pressure sending unit (sensor) voltage input above the maximum acceptaple voltage.
If the software is up to date, then have the oil pressure sensing unit must be replaced.

Additionally, check this TSB SUPERSEDES TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 18-044-07, DATED OCTOBER 12, 2007, WHICH SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM YOUR FILES. ALL
REVISIONS ARE HIGHLIGHTED WITH **ASTERISKS** AND INCLUDE THE ADDITION OF YEARS, MODELS AND CLEAN DATES.
THE StarSCAN FLASH FILES FOR THIS BULLETIN MUST BE RETRIEVED FROM THE INTERNET.
StarSCAN SOFTWARE LEVEL MUST BE AT RELEASE 8.04 OR HIGHER FOR THIS BULLETIN.
StarMOBILE STANDALONE MODE OR StarMOBILE DESKTOP CLIENT MAY ALSO BE USED TO PERFORM THIS PROCEDURE.

My 2007 Dodge Magnum's check engine light is showing a code of PO524 which is low oil pressure.

sensor can clog up. if you remove the sensor and with an air compressor you may be able to clean it out. can also mean that the oil needs changing and a flush additive putting in, because of a build up. can happen just after oil change.

PO524 WHAT DOES IT MEAN

Hi John,
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0524 has a generic description of "Oil Pressure Too Low."
There are SEVERAL things to consider here:
First: Your engine is VERY sensitive to oil viscosity. Since it came up right after an oil change, I would question whether the correct viscosity oil was used. Also, if there has been any aftermarket fluids/chemicals added to the engine oil (like those that make claims to clean your crank case) this can have an adverse affect on oil viscosity.
Second, The actual oil pressure should be checked with a manual gauge to verify proper oil pressure sending unit operation and to see if a low oil pressure condition actually exists.
Finally, If everything is OK in the items listed above, there is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) published for your truck that has to do with "false" code P0542. It requires an update of your computer software to correct it. The TSB Number is 18-003-08.
If your truck requires the software update, it can be done at the dealership for free if your vehicle is still covered under the 8-year/80,000 mile emissions warranty. (It should be covered unless you have more than 80,000 miles)

Computer is showing a PO524 code.

I know in the 2008 models there was a problem to where you had to have a update done through a scanner (called a reflash I think). P0524 means low oil pressure. Pretty sure this TSB was for Rams from like 2002 - 2008 but don't quote me on that.

There is no standard interval for the CE/MIL light. You need to get the codes scanned at a local AP store to see what codes you have.

Oil pressure fluctuating

The sensor could be failing to read the lower pressure when the engine RPM slows down. Or the pump could be failing. I would replace the sensor and see if that doesn't correct the problem
