Security not allowing vehicle to start, check your key. or ignition system failure. fuses sensors coil packs etc. need to test to give any better ideas, ie do you have spark at a plug, etc.

SOURCE: dashboard emission warning has come on but my kia carens is running fine ?

Have the sedona scanned at an AutoZone or similar place and ask for code. they will not tell you whats wrong with it but they will give you a code. You can go from there. You can come back and tell us what the code is .

SOURCE: 2004 KIA RIO-ENGINE WILL NOT CRANK

I would guess starter fuse first, then starter. When you turn key, if you don't hear a click, you should focus your attention on the fuse first and then the starter. If you hear a click, then most likely (80%) its the starter solenoid. try to start the car in neutral to rule out the neutral safety switch...good luck

SOURCE: How do I change the starter in a 2000 Toyota Camry LE

i'm sure it's not the starter itself that is the problem, have the stater's solenoid checked...it might be stucked. It's quite a lot of work removing the starter but you can do it if you are willing enough to learn. You just need the right idea and tools to do it. Hope this will help save you bucks!

You can go to autozone.com and register for full free online repair manual for this car. Register, login, choose year, make, model, view repair guide.

and more

1. Open driver's door. Turn ignition to "ON" position.

2. Locate the programming button on wiring harness pigtail. It is behind the left side of the center console (to the right of the gas pedal). It is next to the RKE module. (feel around under the plastic wall)

3. Press and hold the programming button for 15 seconds. The horn will sound 3 times when it enters programming mode.

4. Press the lock button on the transmitter. The horn should sound once to confirm the transmitter. Repeat for any additional transmitters. You apparently can have up to 4 transmitters.

5. Turn ignition to "OFF" and test transmitters.

Kia carens 2008 crdi not starting when hot, turning over easy, new battery fitted, any ideas greatly appreciated, starts fine when cold.

run the fault codes
not starting hot indicates an electronic component problem when hot
could be faulty cam/ crank position sensors, immobilizer or ECM

2000 Kia Sportage where running but disconnect the battery now it want start

Try this:

Make sure the positive cable, makes a good connection at the battery and at the starter. Make sure the negative cable makes a good ground connection at the battery and (preferably) at the engine.
  • Check the battery the simple way, like this:
Turn on the headlights, then try to start the car.If the headlights do not dim or go out, then the battery is likely ok.
  • Check the starter and solenoid:
If the wiring looks ok, then look at the starter solenoid for a good connection, and proper voltage at the starter(10 volts minimum while cranking).
If the starter spins and no crank, the problem is most likely the Solenoid's bendix gear is stuck.
Have someone hit (not too hard) the starter while you try to start the car. This usually works by dislodging a stuck bendix gear.
  • Make a simple test of the alternator:
If you can, somehow get the engine running, measure the voltage at the battery. It should be at least 13.6 volts to properly charge the battery.

Why does 2005 Kia Sorento die while driving

You need to run an engine control module scan for fault codes Known as an OBD2 fault code test.. Autozone and others do this for free. If no fault show then hook up a test fuel gage the next time it stalls and see if maybe the fuel pump is failing.

2000 Kia Sadona...Stops from time to time. Usually when coming to a stop or taking off. Replaced fuel pump. Sometimes difficult for engine to turn over. New battery. Once I moved electrical connector...

Sounds like a possible crankshaft position sensor. It is located behind the harmonic balancer, inside the timing cover. It sets by the timing belt, so if you have a loose timing belt it could hit the crank sensor or throw up pieces of itself onto the crank sensor. A bad crank sensor can mimic a fuel pump issue. 721c6cee-d9f3-4086-a166-f472fa0318af.gif

Kia carens oil light staying on engine sluggish

Hi John, The oil pressure warning light is indicating pressure not level. You say the warning light is on at all times and the engine is losing power? I believe you should have a compression test carried out on the vehicle. It seems highly possible there has been severe damage to the engine. Is the engine emitting any strange sounds? How long has the oil light been on? How often do you service the vehicle by replacing all filters and engine oil? What engine oil do you use? Regards John

My Kia Carens (2005) has an immobiliser problem and starts sometimes but not every time. Do you know where I can get a manual for this vehicle, or what could be the cause?

You can go on line, type in Kia Carens alarm location. Also remote can be added in the text, and you will pull up,where others have had the problem, and pictures,of locations, and solutions. The kia has a check valve in the fuel tank, that gives the car starting problems a lot.If you can start the car by ,turning it over, then stop, and turn it over, and maybe a time or two,and then it starts, then this could be the problem with yours. The check valve is available threw Kia.I am just saying, threw that in for free. But on line will help.I hope my information was helpful,if so,please let us know, thank you.
