Secondary air injection valve stuck open


2 problems. bad dampers in HVAC.
why not scan the PCM. using a scan tool. (rented, or loaned they are everywhere)
scan it , and post the DTC errors, all cars , USA from 1988 to now.
all cars. if not in USA say so. steps change.

How to fix the Secondary air intake stuck open


you need to change the valve. you can block the valve up and take the fuse out of the secondary air in take motor. its a pre heat system for the cat.... they do fail. it will work just fine with out it on. takes 40 seconds longer to heat cat up with it blocked off.

Not. It is operated by an electric motor. But your problem may not be limited to the temp blend door motor. We also had problems with something in the heater box called a secondary stratification door. It works together with the blend door itself. Sometimes it would get warped and start hanging up. The solution is to replace the door with a revised door. It is also possible that you have an electrical problem in the heater blend door motor control circuit.The air mix door is malfunctioning or the controls are disconnected and allowing too much outside air to enter the cab. Sometimes you can get at the controls from the outside of the heater but you may have to open the heater to repair the mix door. Many times when cores are replaced the person forgets to reconnect the mix controls or breaks the connection unwittingly

P2440 refers to the Secondary Air Injection system. It means that the switching valve is stuck open. We already replaced the secondary air flow pump, now it's telling us that's its the secondary air flow sensor and the valve is stuck open. the code is coming up P2440

I have an Atwood Hot Water Heater, Model GE 16 EXT, 10 gallon tank. It won't stop heating, gas or electric. Replaced the ECO/T-Stat with a new kit. It still will not stop heating. What else can I try?


Start is usually a momentary circuit. It closes a secondary circuit commonly addressed as the run circuit. Secondary. It sounds like the secondary (run) circuit is stuck closed and the thermostat cannot cancel it out when the temp is reached. The primary circuit is generally low voltage, 15vDC controlled by the t-stat and the secondary high voltage (110v A.C., is engaged on signal from the t-stat. You replaced the stat so that is not an issue. The low voltage controls a rela, Large and small wires are connected to this relay. These relays have or are contacts and they do fail. Either they stick or not work at all. Take caution with this relay because it will also make your hair stand on end if attention isn't given to the 110v side. Food Luck and be safe. -Ned

Alternative 1: Blend Door actuator problem

There is a TSB out on this problem. If the thermostat and everything else is good, you may have a problem with the Stratification (Secondary) Temperature Blend Door. This door is now available separately versus replacing the whole case assembly. The instrument panel needs to come off to gain access to it and this might be a job best done by a Ford Dealer.
If you think you might want to give it a shot yourself, you can get a copy of the TSB at the Ford Dealer. It is TSB number 02-23-6 dated 11/25/02. It has the repair procedure and a list of parts needed.

Alternative 2: Heater Core needs to be flushed

Check heater core hoses. If both are hot, not enough heat inside, suspect blend door actuator.
If one hose hot and the other warm or cold, the heater core need to be flushed (very common),

Blend air door may be stuck. I removed a pencil from a heater box before. It had fallen from the dash, down through the defrost vents and jamed the door.

P0411 is what is says is my problem with my 1997 Ford Taurus When my heater is on it makes a clicking noise. What could is the most likely problem and how can i fix it?


i belive that the dtc that you have is not related to the clicking noise at all. apparently p0411 is concerning the secondary air injection. the clicking noise however would be a stuck or broken blend door or blend door motor. usualy the hvac system utilizes 3/4 of these blend door motors. to further diagnose this start your heater with the heat on full and fans at the normal face vents and move the vent selector from that inital position to the last position and if the clicking quits at any point then it would be that blend door motor. if that doesnt work then try to slowly move the heat selector from full heat to full cold, same deal. and if still at that point its making noise see if it goes away by selecting recirculate to fresh air....

Heater air flap stuck


My 01 sables blend door gets stuck I have learned that if you disconnect the battery for 5-10 minutes and reconnect the battery the blend door starts working again. It sounds crazy but it works
