Question about 2000 Saturn Ls 4dr Sedan

1 Answer

Car idles fine, give it gas and it boggs down and wants to die.

Replaced all 4 o2 sensors and egr valve 2 weeks ago. Afterwards it ran fine. Now it won't get over 20 mph or less. Does not cut out, just seems to choke itself.

Thanks again. I went to the auto parts dealer i got the o2's from and they cleared the fault codes. But, I'll try it. I drove it for a week before this new problem came about.

Depending on the year make and model, a DTC (diagnostic trouble code) would help. Is the check engine light on when it does run? Testing needs to be done. Check for spark at the plug, make sure fuel pressure is what it should be and that the fuel injectors are working. If all that is good, I would check compression and timing.

White smoke and foam in the gas tank indicates antifreeze leaking into the engine somewhere. Do you smell antifreeze? You may have an engine seal leaking, most likely head gasket. It may be affecting the various engine sensors.

This could be a number of things but i think that your problem sounds like a vacuum leak or an EGR problem. Try listening for leaks and try un-plugging the EGR solenoid valve one time.

1992 chevy corsica runs rough, stall or dies after stopping

Sounds the EGR valve and EVP sen is bad even if you tested it. The EGR valve cntrols idle and if carbon up will make the car stall or idle high and low (rpms going up and down) This was common on all cars during that time. I would say replace the EGR valve and senosr. This should take care of the problem. One more thing have the fuel pressure check on the car.
