Question about 1986 Chevrolet Camaro

1986 Iroc z camaro

Hello I have a electrical issue I was hoping you could help me with. I am having purging issues with my alternator, I replaced the alternator and it still jumps on my gauge. it stays idle at 12+ then drops to the red then bounces back up for a bit then drops. I took it too a diagnostic place and they verified that the volts where actually fluctuating I am lost. It is a 305 tuned port injection engine. It is a one wire system. the ground seems ok any suggestions?

The only thing I can think of besides some serious electrical issues is your alternator. It sounds like a weird issue, but the alternator deals directly with giving your car power.

I have an 1986 camaro iroc. i have brake lights and turn signals but no tail lights or dash lights, i have power to the tail light replaced both bulbs. i cant seem to find the fuse . does anyone know where...

Bulbs work just like a fuse. When old they just short out like a weak fuse bowing out. Since the lights do not have a fuse you need to replace the headlamp switch for this switch controls the tail lamps. The directionals are controlled by the directional switch, and the brakes are controlled by a brake light switch. Those have fuses for they have switches. Headlight switches do not have a fuse

1986 IROC fuel pump keeps going bad. Been replaced 5 times. Any idea why this is happening?

Two things, make sure the fuel tank has no debris in it ,and check the alternator voltage, make sure it is not over charging.13.65 volts to 14.25 volts is the range it should be.Make sure there is no accessories added to the car, that is connected to the fuel pump circuit.Of course, that is three things.

Check your idle air stabalizer or sometimes called the idle air control valve, it may be clogged with carbon buildup and not working properly,

I am changing the low beam on a 1986 camaro iroc z28 and cannot get at the two lower screws. Any ideas?

You kn ow you have to take the outside chrome piece off, right? If you have the top screws out, you can usually just bend it forward enough to get the headlight out.
