Get a factory service manual (not Hanes or Motors or Chiltons) from the local repository library. They have an excellent troubleshooting chart, as well as will tell you where to look, and what for.

1998 mitsubishi mirage winding over but won't start I have plenty of spark at plugs I have fuel at the fuel rail .I have power at injectors .should power at injectors pulse when cranking ?

Injectors fire when grounded. The power should be constant.

However, if its not turning over and just cranking, make sure your injectors and plugs are connected to the right cylinder. Also, check your plugs for moisture after cranking. If the plugs are wet, then that cylinder isn't firing. If they are dry and hot, maybe they aren't getting any fuel. Has the car sat for a while? When was the last time it started?

Change the fuel pump and still won't start on a 2002 chevy avalanche

Check for spark to the spark plugs, while cranking the engine. If no spark, you could have a bad ignition module, or a bad crankshaft position sensor. The crank sensor sends a signal to the computer, to start the fuel pump and signals the ignition module to start firing the spark plugs. It also drives the tachometer through the computer (PCM) Powertrain control module. The ignition module can be removed and taken to a parts store to have it tested. The crank position sensor is not as easy to test. Easier to just replace it. Good Luck. But wait, I have seen people replace the fuel pump, checked the fuel pump harness for power, and all was good. However, if the fuel pump does not have a GROUND, it will still not operate. Might want to check that. Have fun.

Jeep will crank but not fire, check engine light will not come on so I can get codes.

Need to check spark and fuel start by picking up a tester for the wires it plugs in like a spark plug and has a light that will come on if you have spark the next disconnect the main fuel line to the fuel rail and turn the key to the on position if u get fuel out of it the the pump is good

What will make the truck not start up but its getting fire, it wants 2 start but not turn over

Three systems in engines:

Fuel delivery (fuel mixing with air to burn and making it to the spark plugs)

Ignition (lighting the fuel on fire)

Compression Building up pressure to fire the fuel
_______________________________

It is possible your engine could have low compression if it has ever been run low on coolant or oil. The engine might spin or turn over but not have fire at the spark plugs. If you are correct that the spark plugs have fire but it will not "kick" or run then fuel delivery is where I would start. See if your fuel rail has fuel in it by pressing the fuel rail valve:

If you have fuel there under a good amount of pressure see if one of the plugs smells like gas after cranking. If so the problem is not the fuel, move on.
If you don't have fuel at the Schrader valve the problem is in the fuel pump and system.
refer to a manual on how to remove the pump from the tank and replace it. This problem has signs before it goes bad. Hard starts and running rough when hot.

Good luck

My girl friend has a 2004 neon that will not start. The engine cranks over but engine will not fire up. I check for spark at all wires and I have spark. I check for fuel and have good fuel pressure up to...

Darien, just because it's getting good spark at the spark plug wires doesn't mean that the spark plugs are firing. Now let's get your girlfriend happy again, Remove those spark plugs, check the center electrode and see if they are worn down, if they are worn down, change all 4, Good luck, Gary

Engine will turn over but will not start running

start with the basics check for fuel fire and air check fuel peressure with a gauge should be 50 - 65psi
pull spark plug wire and place near ground if no spark in crank sensor or coil pack ensure air filter is cleaned

on fuel pressure if low check fuel filter pump may be working and cant get to fuel rail but could have damaged pump the fuel pump is controlled via crank sensor signal so no crank sensor signal no fuel

Engine cranks but will not fire.

check to see if you are getting a spark from the plugs. Just pull the plug and connect it back to plug wire. Then with gloves ground of that plug at the threds. Have someone try to start it only allowing 3-4 repatisions, and see if you have a spark. If you dont have a spark, then it would be eaither be the sparkplugs, plug wiers, or your coil is bad.
