It sounds like the cd cassette is stuck, we had the same problem on a JVC unit, we had to pull it apart, remove the cd and put it back together. this did work

is it just the head unit or is it a seperate cd changer, if its the head unit, you can get stereo removal keys usually a couple of pound (dollars) and just remove the head unit, if its a seperate cd changer this should be relativly simple. couple of screws, the changer is quite interesting to take apart so make sure you remember what you have done.

yeah i know the sort of thing you mean, i think if you do it carefully you should be able to release the cds, there may be a reset button on the back of the head unit, cant really say to be honest, but if you are not sure i would suggest taking the unit out and taking it to a car stereo shop to repair.

Why won't stereo load any disc?

I also have a 2009 Journey with the 6 disc changer. There is a 'LOAD' button to the right of the disc opening. Press 'LOAD' and wait for it to display "insert disc". The 'EJECT' button is on the left side (above the power knob) and the 'LOAD' button is on the right (above the volume knob).
Hope this is helpful.

It is great....sounds just like one that came from the factory.

6 disc changer will not eject cds==

One common solution is to disconnect the negative battery cable for 10minutes. When you reconnect, the stereo should reset itself and allow you to eject your CD's . Best of luck!

Audio display says check cd

This may be a bit late to help, but I just had the same problem yesterday. Same car (2000 Monte Carlo SS), but mine is just the CD/radio stereo (no cassette). I was able to solve it by pulling the fuse for the radio (it's in the right-side panel) and letting it sit for a minute. After putting it back in, the CD player made the disc ejecting sound one time (no "check CD" message) and stayed off. And now it seems to be working fine. We'll see how long it lasts, though.
