It sounds like you have a problem with one of the door or bonnet switches. It acts that way when it thinks there is a door or the bonnet is open. Check all the switches for good contact.

the first thing to check is the battery(im sure you already knew that),. next step would be to take down to your nearest rover dealership and ask if there are any upgrades and they may have to reprogram your alarm system which can only be done with there diagnostic equipment.

Check out the instructions for the alarm system, it might be that the alarm needs re-setting (in the same way that you will have re-set your radio when you changed your battery).
If there are no instructions about this in the alarm guide, have a word with your local dealer for the car and/or the alarm maker.

You must enter the system using the EKA code, it will written in the service book how to activate the EKA. If you dont have the EKA code, you will have to take the car to the dealer to reset the system and give you the code. hope that helps
