Good for you for fixing it! IDK, maybe a shifter fork was a little sticky and worked its way loose. As a precaution, check the level of your transmission oil.
I can't find the dipstick to check the level of the fluid.
Any help!?
Manuals do not have dipsticks. Two larger size bolts will be on transmission case-one down low or on bottom is the drain plug. The other large bolt is the fill plug, about halfway up, or at very close to level where the driveshafts enter transmission. You need to unscrew this bolt (very tight and difficult to loosen, often), and check oil level. Level should be right at bottom of fill plug. Honda used different oil for transmissions, so check what yours requires if it needs more.
Good news my honda friends.
After
Transmission fluid flush
All brake fluids including clutch fluid has been flushed and refilled.
We did a adjustment on the clutch and my baby is back and even better then before!!!
Thank god for Honda!
Good to go! Honda people love Hondas more than tree-huggers love trees!
Any suggestions of what brand of fuel system cleaner I should be using on these preludes!?
Not sure. Any good quality injector or fuel system cleaner should be good.
So right now car is sitting at 294 and she's still Goin like a babe.
I know for a fact there is some lost horsepower and I'm willing to find out how to get em back.
Starting with a tune up, Oil spark plugs and wires.
Any other suggestions
If you have a compression tester (about $40 for a decent one) do a compression test -a leak down test is better, more precise in finding what is losing compression-but that tester is around $80 and you need an air compressor. A compression test will tell you which cylinders may be losing horsepower, and give you a good idea of how serious it is. For good balance, you would want the lowest reading cylinder to be within 75% of the highest reading cylinder. Minimum recommended for a prelude would be about 140 psi in each cylinder. Anything over that is great and still good -a new engine should get around or close to 200 psi..

This transmission have shift solenoids that are mounted on the outside in my personal experience I have rectified shift problem with these transmissions by simply change a solenoid or two. My recommendation is to put this vehicle on a code scanner and find out what is at fault first. If its a solenoid just replace, they are a dealer only part and that should take care of your problem. Good Luck and thanks for using FIX YA

have you taken it to transmission shop? if not there are clutch packs in the trans that can cause that problem and might need to be replaced also your car is equipped with a transmission computer and may have problem there have it read with scanner from local parts store or shop find out whats wrong for sure its worth the money to know for sure!

Sounds like the pressure plate! Try this, rev the engine for a sec then when it starts to slows down try to put it in reverse - if the gears grind, its the pressure plate which will come with the clutch kit for about 125-175.00.

*rack and pinion is steering not trans! Separate issue??

You might want to try this if its got a kick down cable unhook it from throutle body and pull it out as far as you can and let it snap back, do this a few of times, sometimes a valve gets hung up inside valve body of trans. and won't let it shift. If that don't help you may have to pull pan to dislodge it if thats the problem. chk. the plug on trans. (Its a 4 wire white plug) with test light with key on to see if there is power down there one will be hot, thats for overdrive, now on top of intake in front throutle body there is a sending unit that looks like a temp. sending unit with a 2 wire plug on it that sends a signial down to that plug when engine gets to temp. to let it shift to overdrive. Maybe this will help, or give you some ideas.

Well, you could try changing the speed sensor, or modulator valve, which ever that model has. And change the filter and fluid. If it's plugged many of the problems you describe could occur. Good luck.
