Sounds like a fuel pump pressure issue..need to pull the line up front and check for fuel pressure..replace the pump if bad, money an issue? get a junyard tank like I did,,35 bucks and put it on..also check the throttle body assembly for operation..should spray gas into the intake while cranking on it(in spurts) if not replace the tbi unit with a salvage part..repost please

Sounds like a vacuum leak. Take a propane torch (unlit of course) turn the valve on so that the gas is coming out of the nozzle and start running it around the intake and vacuum lines(while its running) if it revs up thats where your leak is.

Best do a fuel pressure test. Should have chg. fuel filter from the get go. The only other filter is on the end of the fuel pump in tank. Bad gas and dirty gas will plug up fuel filter, hense burn pump up.

SOURCE: Engine wont stay running. Please help.

change the filter first. IF the pumpwas bad it wouldnt start at all. It could be going bad but the only way to really test it is to pull your gas tank and at that rate you may as well replace it.

you could have a clogged injector causing the lack of fuel as well. you can try injector cleaner, Lucas is my personal preference I use it at every fill-up. 4-6oz per tank of gas depending on your tank size.

I need help can't keeps 98 gmc safari started all I did was run out of gas put more gas in and changed fuel filter still won't stay on ran great before what could it be

Could be the fuel pump as they use the fuel as a lubricant. When run dry this can cause wear to the impeller of the pump.
I would check the fuel pressure in the fuel rail.

RAN OUT OF GAS, NOW CAR WONT STAY CRANKED MORE THAN 4 MIN

Hi there,

sometimes when you run out of gas you can pull up the dirt from the bottom of the tank and damage the pump one quick way to see if you have a pump or filter problem is to put gas directly into the carbuerator or throttle body if fuel injected you can try spraying starting fluid into the air intake also try heet in the fuel tank i hope one of these works for you also to make sure your fuel pump is running you can take off the gas cap have somebody turn the key to on (not start) and put your ear by the tube to hear if the pump hums or runs this primes the prior to starting
I think i should be a pump.

theres a couple of things to check for this first generation series,, check the Air flow meter connector FP terminals, and intake tube, make sure its tight and doesnt have a leak.

Honda passport ran out of gas. now won't start. Could be gas filter?Put 5 gals of gas in tank. Will start with gas added to air flter intake, but won't stay running

It's possible that you have an air bubble in the fuel line. This blocks fuel from reaching the engine. To clear it, you will have to bleed the line at the fuel filter.

The other possibility is that the fuel pump is not working. Turn the ignition key to the on position. You should be able to hear the fuel pump humming. If not, check the fuel pump fuse, in the fusebox under the hood. If the fuse is ok, you will need to trouble-shoot the pump.
