1994 chevy s10 blazer loses acceleration while driving funny smell in exhaust

Driving along at 65 mph and went to accelerate on a hill and the thing wouldn't get out of its own way. Drove it into a service station and turned it off and then it ran fine. Well same problem just happened again. Noticed an odd smell coming from the exhaust system.

SOURCE: blazer not responding to the accelerator, won't rev up

I'm actually going through the same thing, after i just had my fuel pump replaced. Mine turned out to be my Mass Air Flow sensor (MAF) which when not working properly has the same effects as your acceleration not working.

Loss of engine power/transmission 2001 chevy tahoe over 65 mph

Sound's as though a previous owner installed a speed governor so that the engine would not exceed the nationwide 55-65 mph speed limit average. This most likely was a company owned vehicle or owned by someone concerned about speeding ticket's or excessive speed by a teenage driver. It can be uninstalled by an experienced mechanic. Unless this poses a problem while driving on an interstate, you may wish to leave it as is.

Possible catalytic converter is plugged causing exhaust to exit through a more frontal hole or spaces between exhaust components or gaskets between exhaust sections.

First check for any cracked pipes leading into the intake manifold If all OK (with no codes showing it probably is OK) try checking the fuel pressure regulator. If you smell fuel from the pressure regulator vacuum side arm (when the vacuum line has been disconnected) it needs to be replaced.
