Wheel Bearing problem

I took roder off to get to wheel bearing. I drove on bad wheel bearing so long that I think I messed up everything. There was not much left of bearings. Also the new bearings I bought dont seem like they will fit in the hole. I was wondering about how much this type of job will run me.

If you messed up the Spindle by driving on this, It will not be a cheap fix. You may be looking at anywhere from 400.00 to 1000.00 for repair.

Not supposed to use air gun on axle nut

Torque Wrench -- as you did

Check Wheel Sensors -- one may be bad or more
likely the mechanic damaged it.

Use a Volt Meter --put on A/C unplug sensor &
put meter on wires and spin the wheels

Do all four & compare

You could have a failed wheel bearing. Jack the rear up with the trans in neutral (chock the front wheels please) and try to spin the tire. it should spin fairly easy. If you feel grinding or the wheel is difficult to spin then I would say it is the wheel bearing.

Sounds to me like a wheel bearing is going out, get the wheel checked out by a mechanic, and see if that is the problem, but it sounds to me like a bearing issue.

Cutlass Supreme new front wheel bearing repeatedly goes out

You may have pulled the inner tri-pod joint out of the cv shaft and that will make noise. Is the bearing really bad? Does it turn freely?

I Think I have a front wheel bearing problem

Check wheel bering for play if there is no play , it doesn't mean that bearing is NOT bad its can still be dry and would be making that grinding sound you described Also check axle and see if boot is broken. That may be your problem also make sure that rotors are not gouged/scraped up and pads are good.Contact if you need more help and thanks for using FIX YA

Noise in front end, when u make a turn it stop and starts again

a wheel bearing will make noise when there is weight on it. if you turn the wheel from side to side while driving and shift the weight it will tell you what side is the noisey bearing. the bearing is pressed in. you must use a press to replace.

Ask them why it wasn't a problem before the work that they did in that area, and if it normally needs replacement because of bearing work done, then why wasn't it done, and why should you pay the labor to pull everything apart again? Call your local parts store or dealer for price on part, so you know what they're charging you for labor. If it's 2 wheel drive, (repairpal.com) gives an estimate of about $75-$100 for labor & $50-$75 for parts.? Something not right here! Have you dealt with these guys before?
