2002 Ford KA wipers vandalised, how easy to fix?

My car was parked on the road outside my uni house and the rear wiper has been snapped at the joint, (the wiper still goes) and one front wiper arm has been bent (again motor still works) any idea how to fix this? May be able to bend front wiper back. Would a local Halfords be able to fix this?

HI
Well im a girl and know nothing about cars and just had a nightmare with my wipers. Went to 3 garages yesterday who checked the motor and fuses and they were fine. They all said it was the wiper relay which I have had to order from Benfield motors-they are now selling the parts for renault...they didnt have a clue to be honest! The lads in Kwik Fit have been amazing and very helpful! Hope this helps. I am waiting for my relay to be delivered...so fingers crossed!!

SOURCE: Rear wiper Ford Explorer 1998 won't work.

Look for the fuse for the rear wiper motor is a 15 amp mini-fuse , in location # 8 of your POWER DISTRIBUTION BOX in the engine compartment. Check in the PD BOX for; - relay # 8 is the rear wiper down relay , and - relay # 10 is the rear wiper up relay .

SOURCE: Removing/replacing wiper motor in '93 Ford Ranger

You don't have to put the wipers in an upright position You can take the arms completely off. It's very easy to do, when you are looking at the base of the wiper arm, on the side closest to the windshield, at the base, there is a spring-loaded tab. Lift the arm on its hinge to where the arm is now pointing away from the windshield, pull the tab and the wiper arm will slide right off. Now you can access the linkage joints easily. Hope that helps!

SOURCE: replace rear wiper arm

there is a cover at the base lift it up and then you have a nut. 10mm remove this and pull off the arm. sometime they get stuck and you will have to pry it up.

I have a 2002 chevy venture and the front wipers quit working and i still hear the motor running.Stuck need help to solve this problem???

If the motor is working, the linkage between the motor and the wipers has broken. I don't have a Venture, but usually there is a plastic panel below the windshield, where the wiper arms are mounted. You remove the wiper arms, then remove the plastic panel (might be screws or it might just snap out) to get at the linkage and motor. Dealer or auto parts store should be able to order new linkage arms for you.

Ford ka wipers wont park

More than likely, you will need a new wiper motor or there is a short in the wiring. It could also be the wiper switch in the car.

Rear wiper arm will not move i can hear motor working.

the ball joint may have snapped inside so the motor is no longer attached to the arm, has it been used in freezing conditions? often they snap this way, also the ball joint may have just popped off, you will ned to open it up, they are fairly straight forward so the problem would be obvious once open.

Wipers will not move, makes noise and there is power to the motor. Motor was replaced. Someone told me that the arms probably moved to far and are now stuck, how do I fix this?

  2. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Nut cover
    • Nut from the wiper arm
    • Wiper arm

To Install:
  1. Install or connect the following:
    • Secure the wiper arm with the nut.
      1. Tighten to: 17 ft-lb (23 Nm)
    • Nut cover
Rear To Remove:
  1. Put the wiper arm in the park position.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • The washer hose from the connector
    • The cap from the wiper arm
    • The nut from the wiper arm
    • The wiper arm from the wiper motor shaft
Rear wiper arm mounting nut gm_truck_s10_w-wpr-arm_ret-nt_rr.gif
To Install:
  1. Install or connect the following:
    • The wiper arm on the wiper motor shaft in the park position with the wiper arm resting on the park ramp
    • The nut on the wiper arm
      1. Tighten the nut. Torque to: 17 ft lbs (23 nm)
    • The cap on the wiper arm
    • The washer hose on the connector

---
The wiper motor hopefully is ok, but if the wiper arms were not mounted at the right spot, it could have damaged the motor as it returned to the rest position, unfortunately.

If there is noise, the noise could be coming from the wiper arm joint being stripped out or the motor itself assuming that the ball joints under the hood and behind the firewall are still connected.

Check these items, and I'm sure you will get to the bottom of this.

Good luck on this repair.

Windshield wiper linkage ball joint white knuckle cap is broken

This is a DIY fix for a dollar. The white plastic caps that join the wiper arms together in the wiper assembly commonly wear and break under normal use. 1984 - 1986 Honda CRX and Civics also used these plastic caps for a short time - much to my dismay. In my 2000 Subaru Legacy and Subaru Forester (should work on 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004 models as well), there is an easy DIY solution that will take care of the excessive play in the wiper travel, as well as the common 'wiper clunk'.
Head over to your local auto parts store an purchase a PCV Valve grommet for a Toyota. Part number 42058. These are only a dollar, and are normally stocked on the shelf. If you put the phrase 'pcv valve 42058' into to Google Image Search you will see what I mean. I’m attaching a picture as well.
For installation, gain access to the wiper assembly, I recommend removing the entire assembly (arms and motor) from below the black trim piece under the windshield. Inspect all the joints. If you have a loose joint, remove the white plastic cap and the arm from the ball joint. Slide the PCV Valve Grommet over the ball joint and press the arm into the grommet. This is now a perfect, snug fit. Wiper blades slamming into the car is a thing of the past.

Windshield wipers intermittent on 2002 Windstar

2002 Windstar wipers would come on by themselves, or not work set on intermittent, driver door lock would not work sometimes, ABS and brake light would come on sometimes, the problem was in the park switch inside the wiper motor. I replaced with wrecking yard wiper motor $44.95 w/13 month warranty. no more problem. check how many pins on connector plug, mine had 5 on the wiper motor side.Take the wiper assembly off of the metal cowl, 2 nuts, & I bolt, it is easier to snap the actuator pieces off of the wiper motor that way. God Bless JMR

Wipers will not park on 93 ford crown victoria

Hmmmm... if you replaced the motor you must have cleaned the area housing the arm mechanism. I had the same problem and found the problem to be in the arm assembly box on the firewall. Under the hood, triangular shaped box with snap on top was full of dirt, leaves and pine needles... I removed all the **** & my wipers now park as they should!!

my 2004 expedition had same problem, if you take apart the shaft that goes thru the glass it will be full of dirt, clean ,lubricate and reinstall, you may have to replace the O-ring on the shaft. a 20 minute job, very easy fix

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the wiper arm and blade assemblies, then disconnect the in-line hose connections. Do not discard the in-line connectors.

Be sure the motor is still in the park position before assemblingto the linkage; if it is not, temporarily connect the motor to thewiring and operate the switch to park the motor before assembling thelinkage.
  2. Position the wiper motor and install the retaining nuts until snug.
  3. Attach the linkage drive crank to the motor crank arm.
  4. Plug the wiper motor wiring back together.
