SOURCE: Code P0741 for the diagnostic for Toyota Corolla

This is a torque converter clutch solenoid code internal to the transmission. the computer has detected a fault in the operation of the solenoid. It will need to be diagnosed by a trained technician and may very likely require internal trans repairs.

Can a diagnostic connector on 1995 Toyota 4 runner be jumped over with jumper wire to get check engine codes?

There is probably a way to access codes by using a jumper and causing the engine checklight or an integral led to flash in groups. I can't say which pin or pins need jumping.

I suggest you ask the question of google and click on the youtube video.

How do I retreive the check engine codes

Take it to a shop that has an OBD1 scanner. The parts stores only have scanners that check 1996 and newer OBD2 systems. You can access flash codes but you will need to purchase a manual or find the procedure online. It involves jumping a couple of connectors at a diagnostic box on the right engine fender well.

Turn off check engine light

When "check engine" light turn on, some fault code is stored in the PCM (computer); fisrt I suggest scanned the PCM to know exactly what code is there; send us this number for additional diagnostic and solution details.

Engine light comes on and then when it is on .... the engine stalls when at idle speed.

You should take your 4Runner to an Automotive Parts Store and have them scan the on board computer. They will give you any stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes they find in the computer. And the Diagnostic Trouble Codes will dirrect you to the Problem. Most Automotive Parts Stores provide this service for FREE. If you have any problems with the Codes come back to this site, and someone will assist you further. Good Luck and have a good XMASS. From Ernie at RedDeer, Alberta, Canada.

How do I see/get error codes for my 1988 4Runner? (idling prob.)

The check connector is located near the No. 2 relay box. Short terminals T and E1 of the check connector. (jump together)
2. Turn the ignition ON. do not start engine.
3. Read codes by the number of flashes of the "CHECK ENGINE" WARNING LIGHT.
4. System normal: blink every 0.25 seconds.
5. Malfuction Code: light will blink a number of times equal to the malfuction code.Between first digit and second digit, 1.5 sec
Between code and code 2.5 sec, between all malfuction codes 4.5 sec
6. The diagnostics code series will be repeated as long as the connector terminals T and E1 are jumped.
7. Codes are 2 digit numbers

98 4 runner MAF problem. Was replaced 1 year ago with after market MAF. Check engine light would come on every 3 months. They would clean it and clear code. Now it only lasts 2 weeks. Took it to Toyota -...

Make sure that there are no leaks, on your duct hose..where the MAF is located..because if you are getting too much air..the MAF, will try to adjust to it, and it will throw your injectors out of wack, and then you will have a code...stating that you are running too rich, or lean, and then your plugs will foul out, because of too much gas, or not enough...and then it will trickle down to your O2's a big chain reaction when it comes down to the MAF sensor...but check your Duct....
