Trouble Code: P0171

Fuel Trim Too Lean

Possible Causes:

The current cell can be observed using a scan tool. The system will go lean if an injector is not providing enough fuel.A lean condition could be present during high fuel demand due to a fuel pump not pumping enough fuel, plugged fuel filter or a restricted fuel line.Insufficient fuel in the tank or low fuel pressure may cause this DTC to set. Refer to Fuel System Diagnosis .Review the Failure Records with a scan tool. If an intermittent condition is suspected, refer to Intermittent Conditions .

SOURCE: my car keeps stallin out

its not the mass flow , if it was that it would idle high the low then high then low and so on. not the oxygen sensor either that would turn on your engine light and kill your mpg but it would not stall the car unless it is flooding it "do you smell gas?" if the ignition was shorting out it would not drop the rpms and stall it would just die... so the the injectors could be pluged , or it is the fuel pump , so test the pump any auto store will have a fuel psi gauge it should be between 7 and 10 psi.. if the psi is good its the inlectors. good luck

Replaced thermostate and coolant sensor now i have code po 171 to lean bank 1

You may have a engine vacuum leak, check for leaks with a bottle of propane gas and a length of rubber tube like fuel line, if you find a leak the engine idle will change. If no leaks are found the O2 sensor may be defective.

I have a Pontiac torrent 2006 and I receive the ccodes P0442 small leak from and P0771 lean bank1,previously went to dealer they kept saying gas cap. I need help I think its the converter or oxygen sensor...

A p0442 code is solved by replacing the gas cap in most cases, especially if it is the original gas cap. As for the p0771 lean code, there are many issues that can cause this code, O2 sensor, small exhaust leak, spark plug or fuel injector issue, spark issue...the list goes on. This code will need a good understanding with diagnostic procedure and testing and a scan tool would help. You may get lucky with replacing the spark plugs and checking for an exhaust leak and repair the exhaust. A scanner will allow you to see what the engine management components are doing while the engine is running. Keep in mind, it may take several good trips to turn the check engine light off after repairs are made and codes are erased.

Gas cap off and engine light came on in 2006 Chevy Colorado. Replaced gas cap now how do I get check engine light off?

If all it was is that you did have it off it will reset by the 3rd drive cycle. It may take between 50 & 200 miles.

2006 chevy colorado check engine light came on what might have caused this?

To many things that can cause the check engine light to come on. It could be as simple as a bad gas cap to a miss fire in your ignition system.
If there is an Auto Zone around your area, they scan for the DTC codes free of charge and when the issue has been addressed. The check engine light will reset if self after 3 consecutive start cycle if there is no oter issues.
Thank you for using fixya and good luck
