SOURCE: rough idle at higher rpm smooth

You have a vacume leak somewhere. You can try to listen for it or you can get a can of brake parts cleaner and spray it around the engine. Anywhere there is hoses or connections of any kind. When you find the leak the engine RPM's will increase. If thats not the problem it could be your EGR valve is clogged or your map sensor could be bad. Those things would usually cause a check engine light. Vacume leaks wont. Good luck

Have you checked for any codes? Is the check engine light on? If there is any codes it will give you an idea of what to look for.

I have a 2006 GMC Envoy, idles rough at a stop when in gear, but levels out smooth when in neutral. Drives smooth on the highway.

check for a vacuum leak in the brake booster. Check this by just allowing the engine to idle with the hand brake on and if ok then put your foot on the brake and if the idle changes then there is an air leak in the booster.

Idle good when cold, hotter it gets the worst it idles especially when sitting at stop lights

simple test for a vacuum brake booster
star and run the engine at idle without applying the foot brake
if it gets worse when the foot brake is applied , it is a vacuum leak in the booster ( replace the booster )
otherwise check for failed vacuum hoses including under dash control lines , vacuum leak at the manifold or EGR unit

Will a worn out motor mount make the van idle rough or vibrate the car?

Have somebody stand in front of van with the hood open and watch the motor while you start the van.Put the emergency brake on and your foot on the brake, shift into D keeping your foot on the brake with your other foot give the engine a little gas and watch the motor. If a motor mount is broke the motor will lift up a little on the broken side.Be careful!

Actually it's a 2000 Escort Coupe ZX2 and it's been idling very rough as I slow: several times has died. My oil is clean and replaced new apprpriate spark plugs just prior to this growing condition. I...

as you slow down you have your foot on the brake and that means that the brake booster has a vacuum leak is causing the rough idling and stopping
before you spend a dollar have that checked out by starting the engine ( hand brake on) and if it idles ok , the apply the foot brake and it plays up , it is a brake booster vacuum leak problem
the fix in that case is a replacement brake booster

When putting van in gear the engine runs rough

how about putting the van in drive with one foot down hard on the brake and rev the engine, does it smooth out now? if it smooths out, i would pull the air cleaner tube to the throttle body and spray the throttle body with carb cleaner, be careful if using the red tube, I have had it blow off before into the intake, not good, open the accelerator and spray it out really good, it will to start until all the cleaner clears out.

I have a 2001 lincoln LS V8 when i put it in gear i hear a rough noise and i feal like the R.P.M are too high

With the information you provided(which isn't very much) I believe your problem could be Transmission or Torque converter related. Can you explain a little more about the problem.

Where is the noise coming from, and can you be a little more specific about the noise?

So when you shift into drive with your foot on the brake the rpms will go up from idle. So idle is roughly 1000 rpms and the idle then shoots up to how much?

Does the idle go back down after a certain amount of time?

Answer these questions and we can try to get to the bottom of this problem a little better.

Thanks,
Aadoublea
