Question about 1997 Dodge Viper
If my battery is dead can I put a trickle charger on the "charging post" under the hood or do I have to attach directly to the battery ?
You can use a battery charger or jumper cables on the battery access post and any good ground point.

The charger shouldn't have hurt the battery but corrosion is caused by fumes from the battery being charged or used. If you know the cable ends are clear, the battery probably has a dead cell and will need replaced. Most parts stores will do a load test on the battery for free.
