Your best bet is to have a Haynes auto repair manual which you can get at your auto parts store.

SOURCE: 2000 jetta need to remove steering wheel

This is not an easy procedure, especially since you've never done it before. With the wheels in the straight ahead position, look at the back of the steering wheel, you'll see two holes. One at 9 o'clock and one at 3 o'clock. You stick a small flat blade screwdriver in the first hole and you pry on the retaining spring while gently pulling on the airbag until it releases. Repeat on the other side. I'm a professional mechanic and the first time I did it, it took me over a half hour to figure it out. Now I can do it in less than a minute. Might want to take it to the dealer.

SOURCE: Remove the steering wheel or airbag from a 2004 Volvo XC90?

You need a steering wheel puller. You may be able to rent this from your parts house. Disconnect the battery for no less than 1/2 hour before disconnecting the air bag or the air bag could deploy. Place air bag facing up or it could become a projectile if set off.

2006 chevy express 2500. While changing the brakes on my van, a rivet and clip pulled through the rear wheel dust plate, I'm unsure on how to fix this as now one half of the shoe is rubbing agains

get a washer welded in its place but if you dont want to go that way you will need to pull the brake shoes the drive axle just to get to the backing plate so you can remove the old one and install a new one

2004 chevy truck radio control on steering wheel

there could be a broken wire in the steering wheel which would mean possibly having to remove the steering wheel but there will be an air bag that could go off which would be dangerous so its best left to the professionals unless you know exactly what you are doing as regards taking off steering wheels.

On my chevy 2500 hd truck the air bag light wont go off what is my problem?

Its called a "clocking spring" and yours may be broken. You may even be hearing a noise when you turn the wheel. Its under the steering wheel air bag. Its function is so that during an impact that sets off the air bag system it tells the computer what position the steering wheel has been turned to. This is so the bag will fire only if the steering wheel is within a certain number of degree's, left or right. Its much more complicated than that but, you get the idea.

Mostly this occurs on vehicles that see heavy driving use, and when maintenance is done on the steering gear and the disconnected wheel is allowed to rotate past its normal limits.

It is a complicated repair and not a job for the average driveway mechanic.

How do you repair or replace a wiper switch. I want to know how to disassemble the housing

STEERING Steering Wheel REMOVAL & INSTALLATION All Series CAUTION
When performing service around the SIR system components or wiring, the SIR system MUST be disabled. Failure to do so could result in possible air bag deployment, personal injury or unneeded SIR system repairs.
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2. On models equipped with a drivers side air bag, perform the following procedure:
    1. Disable the Supplemental Restraint System (if equipped).
    2. On all but 1996–98 models equipped with a air bag, unfasten the screws at the rear of the steering wheel.
    3. On 1996–98 models equipped with a air bag, turn the steering wheel 90° to access the rear shroud holes to the inflator module. Insert a screwdriver in the holes and push the leaf spring to release the pin. Turn the steering wheel 180° to access the remaining shroud holes and using the screwdriver, release the remaining pins.
    4. Tilt the inflator module rearward from the top to access the wiring. Tag and unplug the lead wire from the clip on the module, the lead wire from the clip on the steering wheel and the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) and retainer from the module.
  3. If not equipped with a drivers side air bag, remove the horn pad or button cap and disconnect the horn wires. Fig. 1: Remove the horn button cap 87988p13.jpg
Fig. 2: Disengage the horn wiring 87988p14.jpg
Fig. 3: If equipped, remove the snapring from the steering shaft 87988p15.jpg

  4. Mark the steering wheel-to-steering shaft relationship.
  5. If equipped, remove the snapring from the steering shaft.
  6. Remove the nut from the steering shaft. WARNING
Don't hammer on the steering shaft!
  7. Remove the steering wheel with a puller. To install:
  8. Install the wheel. The turn signal control assembly must be in the Neutral position to prevent damaging the canceling cam and control assembly. Tighten the nut to 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm).
  9. Install the horn pad and horn contact (if equipped).
  10. If equipped with a drivers side air bag, install the inflator module as follows:
    1. Attach the lead wire to the clip on the module, the lead wire to the clip on the steering wheel and the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) and retainer to the module.
    2. On 1996–98 models, install the inflator module by pressing it firmly into the steering wheel so that all four notched pins in the leaf spring are fully engaged. Be very careful that you do not pinch any wires.
    3. On all but 1996–98 models equipped with a air bag, install the inflator module and tighten the screws to 27 inch lbs. (3 Nm).
  11. Connect the battery ground cable and enable the SIR system (if equipped). Fig. 4: Remove the nut and washer from the steering shaft 87988p16.jpg

P0102 Code on 98 Chevy 2500 van

Check to see if the pink wire on the mass air flow connector has voltage with key on.It come's from fuse #15 inthe under hood power box. Also called eng 1 fuse.If voltage is present try the old trick of using carb cleaner to see if you have a vacuum leak.that will also cause a high idle oon fuel injected veh.If you can't find anything ther your going to need to see your mechanic to trace the trouble tree down for that code. There is a long process for that code. Good luck.
