Check engine light on ? What code ? There are many different (DTC'S) - diagnostic trouble codes that can set for knock sensors ! There all don't mean that you replace the sensor .
DTC P0324: Knock Sensor (KS) Module Performance
DTC P0325: Knock Sensor (KS) Circuit Bank 1
DTC P0326: Knock Sensor (KS) Performance
DTC P0327: Knock Sensor (KS) Circuit Low Bank 1
DTC P0328: Knock Sensor (KS) Circuit High Bank 1
DTC P0330: Knock Sensor (KS) Circuit Bank 2
DTC P0332: Knock Sensor (KS) Circuit Low Bank 2
DTC P0333: Knock Sensor (KS) Circuit High Bank 2

The knock sensor (KS) system enables the control module to control the ignition timing for the best possible performance while protecting the engine from potentially damaging levels of detonation. The sensors are located below each cylinder head on the engine block. The KS produces an AC voltage signal that varies depending on the vibration level during engine operation. The control module adjusts the spark timing based on the amplitude and the frequency of the KS signal. The control module receives the KS signal through 2 isolated signal circuits. The control module learns a minimum KS noise level at idle and uses calibrated values for the rest of the RPM range. The control module should monitor a normal KS signal within the noise channel.
Knock Sensor Replacement - Bank 1
Remove the exhaust manifold lower heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Lower Heat Shield Replacement.
Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (1) from the bank 1 knock sensor (2).
Loosen the knock sensor bolt and remove the knock sensor.
Knock Sensor Replacement - Bank 2
Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
Remove the engine oil filter. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
Lower the vehicle.
Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (2) from the bank 2 knock sensor (3).
Loosen the knock sensor bolt and remove the knock sensor.

How to tell which or if either knock sensor is bad on a 2005 Chevy suburban 5.3. I have a light on that two mechanics read and both said it's the knock sensor low circuit #2

usually the sensors (2) are good but the harness goes bad and there is corrosion at the knock sensor connection. The intake manifold need to be removed and the harness replaced. KNOCK SENSOR 2 IS THE REAR.

GMC 4.3L DTC P0330 flashing MIL

P0330 - Knock Sensor 2 Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2)
A knock sensor tells the engine computer when one or more of your engine's cylinders are "knocking", that is, exploding the air/fuel mixture in a way that delivers less power and can be damaging to the engine if prolonged. The computer uses this information to tune the engine so that it doesn't knock. If your knock sensor wasn't operating properly, so that it was always indicating a knock, the engine computer's response may have been to change the ignition timing on your engine. Knock sensors generally bolt into or thread into the engine block. This P0330 code may show up intermittently or the Service Engine light may be lit constantly. Other knock sensor related DTC codes include P0325.

Symptoms: You may notice drivability problems including a lack of power and perhaps some hesitation. There may also be other symptoms.

Causes: A code P0330 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:
The "B" knock sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced
There is a wiring short/fault in the knock sensor circuit

Possible Solutions:
Check the resistance of the knock sensor on bank 2 (compare it to factory specs)
Check for broken/frayed wires leading to the sensor
Replace the knock sensor on bank 2

Hope helps.

How to replace a knock sensor on a 2006 volkswagen beetle

On a 2006 VW Beetle 2.5L 5 cylinder ( here in USA) have 2 knock sensors. The connector colors are green and grey and mounted staggered near each other at the rear of engine. Both sensor have wire leads running together through the same wiring tubing under exhaust manifold which necessitated removing 2 metal shields just to be able to see them (One around right axle boot ,2 bolts and one below exhaust manifold has 3 bolts. I had to take off another bracket that attaches the knock sensors wire routing tube and remove both knock sensors with it as an assembly to unsnap the tubing insulation and tubing releases on bench just to see what connector color corresponds to the sensor that needs to be replaced. On my 2.5 application the sensor with the green connector had the longer lead and mounted more forward on right side of engine facing firewall, than the more rearward mounted sensor with shorter lead with grey connector.
The knock sensor bolt torque is 20 NM. I need to still verify that the #2 knock sensor is the more rearward one , has the grey connector with shorter lead because this Farf@cknuugen POS stuff isn't always what you assume it to be LOL

I have a 04' Chev, 6.0L. Engine light came on, fault code came up PO332. I'm afraid the KS's are under the intake. Is there any way to test the KS to see if it is bad, or is there another problem that is...

P0332 - Knock Sensor 2 Circuit Low Input (Bank 2)

The knock sensor is attached to the cylinder block. It senses engine knocking using a piezoelectric element. A knocking vibration from the cylinder block is sensed as vibrational pressure. This pressure is converted into a voltage signal and sent to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) or Engine Control Module (ECM).

Causes for P0332 DTC:
- Knock sensor circuit short to GND.
- Knock sensor circuit short to PWR.
- Knock sensor circuit open.
- Damaged knock sensor.
- PCM or ECM failure.

Solutions:
- Repair or resecure the harness or connector.
- Replace the knock sensor.

Your best bet is to just replace the knock sensor for sensor 2 bank 2. Call Auto Zone with part number SU1282 this is the OEM replacement.

The knock sensor looks like this:

Diagnostic Trouble Code 332 JEEP LIBERTY ? WHAT IS THIS ?

2005 Jeep will be OBD II compliant and the trouble code(s) will be 4 digits after a P,B or U. Are you sure you wrote it down right?
For example P0332 for your car is Knock Sensor 2 Circuit Low Input (Bank 2)

Potential causes for a P0332 DTC include (but are not limited to):

  • The knock sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced
  • There is a wiring open/short/fault in the knock sensor circuit
  • The PCM/ECM has failed
Possible Solutions
  • Verify the resistance of the knock sensor (compare it to factory specs)
  • Inspect for broken/frayed wires leading to the sensor
  • Check the wiring and connections leading to/from the knock sensor and PCM/ECM
  • Verify proper voltage is reaching the knock sensor (e.g. 5 volts)
  • Verify proper grounding of sensor and circuit
  • Replace the knock sensor
  • Replace the PCM/ECM

I failed the emisson's test. I have a 97 Nissan

P0136 indicates a bad O2 sensor. This reports poor emission performance back to the car's PCM (computer)
P0325 indicates a bad "Knock" sensor which would adversely effect drivability as far as performance is concerned. Only way to fix these 2 problems is replacement of the 2 components.
