The first post showed a red x in the fuse panel which I would assume the tech was saying that it is the flasher unit. If this is what he intended, it is not the flasher unit and I do not know or see the flasher. Any idea as to it's real loacation on this auto.

hi , since the fuses are fine , check the flasher , there's not much to check , its very inexpensive to replace it , most any parts store will havee one . location is in the fuse box , that round looking tin can about 1" in diameter should be top right corner in fuse box .
in picture X marks the spot .

the flasher controls the blinkers and the 4 way flashers .

the turn signal on mine feels like it's been twisted, out of shape as to the way it's supposed to be. if i hold it just right, it'll blink maybe once and then not again, that's a short right? how much to replace that whole part ?

If you still have flasher problems, I read on Google to spray WD-40 down in and around the hazzard flasher button, then press it up and down several times...and BINGO...all flashers and signals worked again....just had some dirt and dust in the wiring....

The turn signal flasher on 97 Merc Grand Marquis (and 97 Ford Crown Vic) is part of the LCM light control module under dash to right of gas pedal. The module is a black rectangular box. Good luck on getting to it.Check out a hard copy repair manual for location of LCM. It can be done. The socket on fuse block labeled for turn signal flasher has not been used since early 90s by those cars.

Flasher relay in a 98 mercury grand marquis?

The fuse block the relay is located in is behind the knee bolster, the trim panel under the steering column, left of the steering column underneath the dash. Common source of problems if that does not fix it is the Light Control Module ( LCM), turn signal switch unit, headlight switch.

I need to find the flasher relay for a grand marquis 2001 .does it has one? My turn signals wont work I can hear the sound but don't even flash

Yes, it does have a flasher, although it may be a combined unit with the hazard flashers relay. So you hear the clicking of the flasher relay? That seems to indicate the relay is working properly. Have you checked the bulbs and the turn signal fuse? Any turn signal bulbs light up anywhere, front or back?
How about your brake lights, do they work? Your car may have separate, stand alone turn signals in the rear, but many American cars use the same bulb and same filament on the bulb for the brake lights and turn signals. If your merc is like this and the brake lights work, then the bulb must be good.
Turn on the hazard flashers and see if all bulbs work and flash at each corner of the car. This would be the same bulb as for the turn signals. If they work, it could be a bad turn signal switch, may even be the flasher relay somehow malfunctioning, and in a few cases, a bad hazard switch can affect the turn signal switch. Check fuses and bulbs first. If you have any type of body control module that controls lights and other accessories, you may have to investigate that. I know I'm not being very helpful, just throwing out a few suggestions. Good luck.

Signal light and emergency flashers don't work

Check the relays and then check the wires... If its a relay you will need to replace it and of its a wire problem either fix the wires or get a new wiring harness

Need to change flasher relay in 1997 Mercury Grand marquis . where is it?

From the 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis 4.6L SFI 8cyl repair manual, the Flasher is located behind left side of instrument panel. The turn signal and emergency flashers are attached to the interior fuse panel. They are replaced in the same manner as the fuses and circuit breakers.

Check in the passenger fuse panel, its possible that you need replaced the "flashers"...

The turn signals do not work but the 4 ways do i have already replaced the flasher and the fuse what else can it be

If the fuse and the flasher are good and we know the wireing is good because the hazards work then you are down to the turn signal switch [unless you replaced the wrong flasher].
