Depending on what gear it is,do not try to shift into that gear,just bypass it to the next gear,or clutch is getting bad or clutch pressure plate,might need a haynes repair manual

Transmission Issues? Feels like I'm dumping the clutch when I ease into gear. Please help!


Sounds like something broke in the clutch area. The clutch has springs in it. In there for harsh shifts And dumping the clutch. But the pressure plate could possibly do this as it is also spring loaded. Changing the fluid would do this. The fluid only lubricates the internal parts. IE.. gears, bearings, ad synchronizers. being low isn't good, but still wouldn't cause this problem.

The key in my 2003 chevy caviliar won't come out, and the car won't stay in park. The gear shift is also broken.


I've h ad change thrown in therefrom my daughter actually jam up and not allow full park engagement... remove center console and remove change/debris..
Also maybe bushing on shift cable broken and not allowingthe soon for park....mine is actually destroyed and held to linkage w zip tie..lol...

it sound like you have a clutch problem, check if it is a cable clutch or a hydraulic, if it is a cable clutch the cable could be jammed giving the impression your pedal has been pressed , hydraulic could be that the push rod has jammed in I hope this helps

I have a 95 honda civic automatic which was running normal except for a metal clapping sound coming from inside the engine/transmission which over a week got louder but would either change in sound or get...


Have a look at the flexi plate . That is the plate with the starter ring gear on it which the starter engages to turn the engine over. They have a habit of cracking and failing. If it has broken away completely it is possible that the plate has been jammed by the starter pinion against the bell housing.

Land rover clutch. can't get into gear


it's an odd occurance but it sounds like the hydraulic fluid in the clutch lined may have boiled. it's usually okay once it's cooled down, but if the pedal feels weird you may want to bleed your line.

Depending on mileage- have your transmission flushed. Sound like your a/t fluid is cashed.

New starter does not work


The spring on the starter motor helix is either stuck or broke, or the starter gear is jammed in the flywheel gear.

Take the cover off the starter motor and you can see the flywheel, starter gear, spring and helix shaft.

If its just stuck, free it up and spray some WD40 in there.

If the gear was jammed into the flywheel teeth then check for damage and wear. They are made from quite a soft metal and burrs can easily be filed and removed.

The "clunk" you are hearing is probably the starter solinoid. If you think its a more mechanical sound than that, it could be the starter taking up slack against a jammed gear.

If the engine runs file on a pull start, its unlikely to be a jammed gear/flywheel and more likely the spring is broke or the gear is stuck at the base of the helix.

If its none of those things and the clunk is the solinoid, then you will have to check to see if 12v is getting to the starter motor. If so, it might actually be the motor.

So, in order of likelyhood/checking:

1) spring stuck or broke
2) Gear jammed on helix
3) solonoid <-> motor electrics
4) gear jammed on flywheel

Its a good idea to keep in working - very sensible.
