Often lights under a dash or indicators just blow out bulbs. If more than one thing isn't lighting and are centralized check fuses to see if its blown. Bulb or fuse. IMHO. MIGHT be a sensor on tranny too. Hope not.
Here's a video with detaile dinstrauctions and other people's fuse questions. New fuses?
you may have a bad frt diff seliniod, try unpluging seleniod and putting into 4wd, if fuse doesnt blow then you know its the seleniod.also take a look at the wiring at the transfer case for any chafed wires, some of these trucks use vaccum also to operate 4wd check the vacuum switches for shorts, ive enclosed a wiring diagram to help you ,hope this helps ,good luck.
the auto 4 wheel does the same as part time in jeeps, it engages only when the vehicle loses traction. when auto 4 wheel is on the truck isn't fully in 4 wheel drive. my 02 sierra makes the clunk noise too but it does engage. try checking your fluids, i know its way pass the time for me to change mine out.
my name is michael. You said it will go into 4 low but not into 4 hi. Have you lifted the truck to see if it is operational? Does your 4x4 light come on? Does it grind into either 4 hi or low? And one thing, has anyone ever taken the axle out on the right hand side? Please feel free to email me at MOFRACKY1@hotmail.com.
