maybe your catylitic convertor is plugged, one way to tell for sure run if for a half hour at night then look under your car and see if your convertor is glowing orange, also did you ever check your air filter

  • rex ferguson Jan 18, 2013

the catylitic convertor is not plugged it will hold a 4000 rpm and then go higher it starts to bog tps is the next step because it also dose

Check to make sure your plug wires are in the proper firing order, also if you need to get a haynes repair manual at your auto parts store, they really help you figure out whats wrong

Have the shop check fuel pressure at the fuel rail. Maybe the pump impeller has failed. If fuel pressure is good, your timing chain/belt may have slipped.

take off one of the plug wires and hold it next to a metal surface, get someone to turn the engine over for you and see if the spark is bright blue, if it is the coils are ok, then check for oil leaking around your distributor, if you have an oil around that area take off the distributor cap and see if there is oil inside. the seal may be gone, while you have the cap off it would be a good time to check the rotor button inside
