Question about 2006 Dodge Durango

Open Question

The back lights in the instrument cluster are not working on my 2006 Durango

All the guages, warning lights, gear selection and mileage work. I have checked all the fuses inside and under the hood. Its just the back light for the speedometer, tach and gas guages. I have pulled it out and seems to be a LED type panel that goes behind the gauages. I checked the connection and reset everything, no luck! Does anyone else had this happen? Do I need a complete new cluster??

SOURCE: Instrument panel gauges all stopped working while driving.

These vans are common for having cracked circuit boards in the Instrument cluster. You need to replace the circuit board. Try smacking the end of the dash and see if the gauges start working again.

SOURCE: The instrument cluster not working.

You may be dealing with the bad-ground syndrome that was common back then. These grounds were commonly placed at various points on the firewall panel and may be corroded due to water infiltration. Repair is done by removing the connections (after removing the battery ground connection), cleaning the parts and terminals, covering everything with a light grease coating, and re-assembling. Good luck!

SOURCE: I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 3500 4X4, w/5 spd tranny.

tach is most likely a cam sensor, hvac could be a bad vacuum problem (bad hose ) the electrical (dash stuff) I would start looking for a loose or bad ground wire or dirty battery terminals

this is a common issue. the internals of the instrument panel clusters become defective, and is a sealed unit - the entire cluster must be replaced. this must be performed at the dealer because they need to reprogram the mileage into the new cluster with the GM scantool. you should call your local dealer with your VIN#, some models are covered by a secret / extended / goodwill warranty. if the dealer says no, request the 1800 number to contact gm. good luck!

Odometer and fuel guage not working

on many buicks and impalas there is a problem with the wire resistors falling off the circuit board! You will see four resistors upper right if any of these has fallen off they need to be replaced, Good news is you can replace them yourself ! go to your electronic supply store and buy 151 surface resistors and replace them ! These are 50 ohm and don't get hot and fall off. use a 15 watt soldering iorn. Don't want it to hot! Repace all 4 and wala it should lifgt back up! Douglas Noack texasinstrumentcluster.com
