HAVE YOUR MECHANIC CHECK THE FUSEABLE LINK BY THE SOLENOID. IF THIS LINK IS BURNED THE ALTERNATOR CAN NOT SEND CURRENT BACK TO THE BATTERY. IF ONLY PARTIALLY BURNED IT MAY SEND CURRENT, BUT NOT FULL CURRENT TO KEEP UP WITH THE DEMANDS THE HEADLIGHTS PLACE ON THE BATTERY.

2000 Ford Ranger is killing alternators immediately after install

the best way to test an alternator is with a load test-partstores dont do that--battery may still have a bad cell even tho it tested good--an alternator can burn up charging a completely dead batt--make sure batt reads at 12.6volts and no less-----if it reads say at 12.3 its only 50% charged!

My mom has a 87 dodge ram charger. And something is killing her battery, she has changed, the battery, alt, coil, and the starter and its still killing the battery.

check for lights on, glove box trunk, under hood, these lights will run down the battery if they stay on, also if you have an aftermarket amp make sure its wired to key on power and not full time power

Put in new alternator, shows charging and battery holding charge but battery light stays on. You start car and light stays off for about 15 to 30 sec. than on.

The alt should charge at around fourteen volls , any ways, yogi need to put another battery. A weak alt will kill a good bat.and vise versa

Hello, I have a major problem with my electrical components while driving at night in the rain. In such instances I usually have the headlights on, the blower for clearing frost on the windshield...

there are a few things to check --- check to make sure the battery is good ( have it charged and load tested at a battery shop ). check to make sure the alternator is putting out the correct voltage and is charging the battery. also check the alternator belt for proper tightness.

this is a voltage issue and that is why when you have the lights on and the blower and the wipers that is kills the car -- there is not enough voltage left in the system to run the ignition.
if you have any other questions about this problem, please feel free to write back and ask.

Check the Bulkhead connector between the engine compartment and the passenger compartment I have seen wather get in there and cause pure hell. Also maybe the fuse block has water in it seen that too.
