Question about 2001 Chevrolet Blazer
The truck has almost a full tank of gas but the gauge will drop all the way to empty. Plus Passenger side seat moves but the drivers is stuck please help. Before i go and instead of wasting a lot of money i just go buy C-4.
Hello, you didn't mention if the seats are power or not. If power, do you hear any clicking when you push switches? If not blown fuse for drivers seat. If not power seats than cable for locking mechanism broke or came off and won't unlock seat from current position. Your sending unit inside your tank is faulty, most likely. It is due to faulty or bad connections on sending unit which in probably attached to fuel pump inside tank. My gauge moves alot when I drive and I replaced my
pump/sending unit 5 times already. It's just the way they are making them. The only time I get an accurate reading is at a stop or smooth road.

Testimonial: "Hey Paul sorry they are power and where is the fuse for the drivers seat located i looked at all the ones inside the truck and none of them are blown. I just went outside and when i put the gear from reverse to drive that's when the gauge dropped."

SOURCE: 99' blazer gas gauge eratic
I have the same problem on my 99 ZR2 Blazer. This is the rheostat in the gas tank. I bought my part in Ebay for $27. The only issue is that you have to drop the gas tank and pull the sending unit to install. Hope this helps, I hear from other message boards that it is a very common problem in these vehicles.

SOURCE: faulty gas gauge
Have a 2001 chev and it does the same thing. It is a common problem. It is a faulty in tank sender, not the fuel pump. You can just replace the sending unit by removing tank. If you want more information please get back to me.

Youre gauge is controlled by a plunger in the fuel tank which is attached to the sensor and the fuel gauge. it sounds like when the plunger goes down half way its either getting stuck down lower then it should. Needs replacing. Any mechanic can do this install for you.

Bad fuel level sensor. Unfortunately it is located inside the gas tank. Fairly common problem on GM's. Due to sulphur in fuel. Corrodes the sensor tabs. Expensive to have repalced and NOT a do-it-yourself project, unless you have dropped a tank before.
