Either the ram is very new and tight not enough weight to bring it down oror the valve in the pump is not going across to let oil back into reservoir, usually need to power this across.

SOURCE: dodge 3500 diesel lift pump

When the key is turned to the start position, the pump should run for about 20 seconds. Do this 3 or 4 times to prime the pump.

If it still doesn't start, the bad lift pump may have damaged the injection pump. Crack a fuel line loose (don't remove it) and turn the engine over, you should have fuel at the fitting.

How to install an engine

the engine ofr the 95 Le Sabre is most easily taken out by dropping the sub frame. Here's how its done:

1. Lift the car on jack stands as high as you can get it **DO NOT FORGET TO CHUCK THE REAR WHEELS***
2. Begin by removing the battery cable, air filter hose and air filter box, the front wheels and disconnecting all the sensors from the wiring harness there are 2 main harness connectors that should take care of all the sensors depending on year and model. Also remove power steering pump and Cruise control.( this includes the starter cables and remove the A/C compressor* from the engine its self.
3. The next step is to remove the exhaust manifold that is bolted to the engine (trust me it saves about an hour of frustration, and saves you an exhaust gasket)
4. next get a hoist or engine crane strapped to the motor and support the engines weight. Then begin taking the engine cradle out by removing the 4 bolts out of the sub frame.
5. next lower the motor and trans mission from the vehicle. and pull it from under the car.
6. remove the transmission bolts (there are 5) that are at various circumference of the motor to trans
7. Now support the transmission and lift the engine off the engine cradle (sub frame) and replace the new engine into the old engines place.
8. bolt the engine to the transmission and replace the starter.
9. slide the engine back under the vehicle and replace the lift or hoist back on the engine.
10. lift the engine back into place and adjust the sub frame into place and bolt that back together.
11. replace the exhaust manifold.
12. replace the engine wiring harness, A/C compressor, Power steering pump, cruise control, and attach the starter wires.
13. reconnect the air filter hose and air filter box.
14. check motors oil level, and oil filter.
15.reconnect battery
*DO NOT DISCONNECT THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WHILE IT IS STILL PRESSURIZED!*

My 2995 trailblazer with 72k miles died going down the road and won't start.

Fuel Pump is probably gone. 72K miles - yep, right on time. Easist way to fix is to take the bed off (should only be eight bolts) loosen the bolts, disconnect the filler hose from the bed (2 screws by the gas cap). On my Silverado, I ran two straps across the bed and used a 4 wheeler winch and pully to lift up the bed (between 2 trees with a chain attached) you can try this, find a buddy with an ebgine hoist, or 5-6 buddies to help lift it off. Don't forget to disconnect the Neg battery terminal before removing the fuel pump.

How do I hoist or lift an old 2001 Mercury Sable engine and replace with new? I need places on the engine that will allow me to lift out engine with a hoist.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION HAS TO BE SUPPORTED ON THE BOTTOM BY A POWER TRAIN LIFT. THE ENTIRE CAR BODY HAS TO BE RAISED BY A LIFT UP AWAY FROM THE POWER TRAIN WHICH IS SUPPORTED UNDER THE BOTTOM WITH A SPECIAL POWER TRAIN LIFT OR TABLE.

Where are the chrysler pacifica 2006 lift points for lifting it up onto a hoist.

VECHICLE LIFT POINTS IS WHERE FACTORY TIRE JACK GOES. WHERE YOU SEE NOTCHES IN FRONT AND REAR ROCKER PANEL.THATS THE LIFTING POINTS TO KEEP CAR CENTER GRAVITY.IF NOT SURE GO TO A GARAGE THAT HAS LIFT.ASK A MECHANIC OR TIRE SHOP THAT HAS A LIFT. THERE A DRIVE ON LIFTS AND DOUBLE POST COLUMN LIFTS YOU HAVE TO USE FRONT SUSPENSION AND THE REAR AXLE HOUSING TO SUPPORT VECHICLE.FOR SAFETY SAKE CHECK AROUND FIRST DONT GUESS I HEARD OF A MECHANIC LIFT CADILLAC ON COLUMN LIFT. DID NOT HAVE VECHICLE TO CENTER OF GRAVITY.CADILLAC FELL OFF LIFT CRUSHED HIM. SO IF YOU DO HAVE A COLUMN LIFT FIRST TIME USING IT LET GARAGE DO IT.YOU EITHER DAMAGE VECHICLE OR GET FATALLY HURT.

How do i change the solonoid on a gm diesel pump

hi,
there is no way to test the optical sensor, what problem does the truck have? is the lift pump working?. you can't ohm out the fuel driver, it can only be replaced. make sure to take the chip out of the old driver and put it in the new one when you replace it or you will have all knids of problems
chec the power feed from the ign switch to the injection pump
for going below 12 volts, probably have to put meter on min/max. or else fuel driver is bad or optical sensor in pump is missing cam counts causing it to stall

2000 silverado will start but wont stay running just dies.

I also agree it sounds like a fuel pump issue. Its easiest to remove the box (6 bolts {need impact wrench} disconnect wires at plugs and disconnect gas filler hose) and lift box up. A hoist is easiest but 6 people can lift it easily. The fuel pump can easily then be replaced. Takes about 1 1/2 hrs. to do entire job this way and its so much easier!
Good Luck!
