I mean the brake is no longer functioning, the brake when depressed travels farther down almost touching the carpet and it doesnt stop the car any longer, so i have to stop driving the car.

My car was broken into and had to replace the ignition switch and now I have discovered the brake lights wont go off. I have to diconnect the battery to kill the power. HELP!!

Brakes lights are not effected by ignition.
I believe on that car they are operated by a switch on the pedal.
If not, then a switch on the master cylinder.

How to replace brake pads on 1988 plymouth voyager

The best way is to buy a caliper kit.. it will have the pads and new calipers. Just replacing the pads is kind of a band-aid fix.. The parts for the last brake job I did were $200. (95 Toyota PU) .. this included the rotor too... there will be a core charge for the calipers.. . sometimes you find more things wrong once you start inspecting everything.. If you are cheap, go to the wreckiing yard.. the 1989-90 Voyagers will work.. you have a "first generation" Voyager..

You will have to get the caliper off to replace the pads, odds are that if you went down to the metal.. the rotors are dust..

Plus, over time the rotors tend to warp.. this will cause premature pad wear even if you just replace the pads.. Brakes aren't something I scrimp on.. Jim
