GMC 1500 SIERRA CLUSTER FAILURE

I have a gmc sierra 1500. the gauge cluster is completely wrong and pegs most of my gauges and won't reset back to normal. I have noticed my speedometer and rpm are starting to fail as well. I have heard there were many of these trucks that have this problem. I have over 100,00 miles so I am not covered on warranty or recall

Your right it is a problem with them but some repair shops can send them out and have them in a few days.

Speedometer doesn't work

You might try an oil pressure sending unit, first making sure the connector and harness are okay. I'm not sure, but I think there is a VSS Sensor as well, or vehicle speed sensor. Check the connector and wiring. If its okay, try a sensor. Good luck, hope this helps.

The heater dont work on my 2004 gmc sierra 1500, engine(4.8) only the AC works in it... but the heater not anymore.... please help... and also the temperature gauge not working, it's only pointing...

it sounds like a heater door actuator is not allowing the door to swing into the heat position...as for the temp gauge there is a recall for a bad insterment cluster for that truck...a circuit board is cracked in the dash not allowing the gauge to function...call a GM dealer to get more info on this recall...the heat problem can be easliy fixed at any qualified service station

No gauges or speedodometer or tach working

GM had gauge cluster problems from 2000-2005. Bad stepper motors. On those units you have to replace the cluster or rebuild it with new stepper motors. Dealership fixed mine for $150.00

Speedometer cable how a 1500 gmc siarria

They don't have cables, the speed signal is delivered electronically to the computer then to the instrument cluster. If your gauges aren't reading correctly it's most likely due to failing stepper motors on your cluster's circuit board, very common on all 03-06 GM vehicles. Oil pressure gauge reads 80 while running

could be one of two things, oil pressure switch (located on top of engine behind intake) or instrument panel cluster, if your vehicle has under 70,000 miles, it's covered under warrenty
