SOURCE: 2002 S60 - Low compression on cylinder #2 and cracked coils issue

coils crack over time with age and wear. it may take several hundreds of dollars to replace, but definitely necessary, and no gaurantee that its the only problem you may have. the low compression could be several different things. but you will have to decide if its worth fixing or replacing the car. you will start paying for repairs a little at a time every couple of months, or ante up and have a major service done to fix and replace everything.

No it does not make sense. Talk to the repair facility . Since the tailpipe connects to the motor any jolt on the pipe will shake the motor. Do not settle with the insurance company. The body shops routinely find hidden damage and have your body alignment checked. Let your body shop fight this one out.

SOURCE: Oil pouring out of my engine

I assume your engine is a 1.9 TDI. If so you certainly DO NOT have any problem with the timing CHAIN or CHAIN TENSIONER as these engines do NOT use a chain. They use a Timing BELT. A crack in this belt cover should NOT leak any oil, as the belt runs totally dry.
However...A VERY common fault with this model when crashed is A cracked Sump / Oil Pan.If this is the case its tricky but Not a huge repair.
Have another check done
Hope this is some help to you.
Good luck

It is now four to five months later on and I expect the insurance will no longer uphold the claim. There is normally a time limit for repairs.

How does Drive Smart Insurance works?

Bajaj Allianz General Insurance launched Drive Smart' - to reward customers who drive safely and well.
This will be done through a device fitted in the car and through the company's mobile app which provides real-time feedback on driver behaviour - including on overspeeding, changing gears in the wrong fashion, too much idling or driving rashly. It will provide a whole range of statistics, including the time spent driving, the distance travelled, the likely fuel consumption as well as the amount saved by right driving practices. There is also a one-touch call feature that allows for 24/7 roadside assistance in the event of an emergency or breakdown. Customers can opt for this while buying motor insurance policy from the company.

Honestly I'm not exactly sure of the solution, but I sure hope someone does. A friend of mine had the same problem and was hoping his home insurance in calgary would help with the issue. Does insurance cover that kind of thing?

Minor accident occurred 2 days after re-insuring our car, although several day's had gone by on renewing our policy the insurance company after deeming the car to be a write off due to its low value...

If you have an accident report from the police department, there should be no issue. This is just one reason that all accidents should be reported if for nothing more than your own protection and of course most jurisdictions require it by law even for minor fender benders. You still can file a report with the cooperation of the other driver, though, and that should certainly be enough because you are both signing an affidavit to the events and the insurance company can't refuse. Your state has an insurance commissioner. Do you want to see your insurer jump? Contact them and make them aware that you are filing a complaint with the state insurance commissioner. If that doesn't get them to change their mind while you're on the phone with them then file a complaint with the commissioner's office. You'll get results and it won't take long.
